摘要： A developing device used with an image forming apparatus has a driving shaft with a rotating force applying portion, and a movable member on which the developing device is mountable. The developing device includes a developing roller and a coupling member for transmitting a rotating force to the developing roller. The coupling member includes a rotating force receiving portion and a rotating force transmitting portion for transmitting a force received through the rotating force receiving portion to the developing roller. The coupling member can be in a rotational force transmitting angular position, a pre-engagement angular position, and a disengaging angular position. In response to movement of the movable member the coupling member moves from the pre-engagement angular position to the rotational force transmitting angular position, and by moving from the rotational force transmitting angular position to the disengaging angular position the coupling member is disengaged from the driving shaft.

The developing device is mounted to the moving member and includes a developing roller, and a coupling member that includes a rotating force receiving portion and a rotating force applying portion. The coupling member is capable of taking (i) a rotational force transmitting angular position for transmitting the rotational force to the developing roller, (ii) a pre-engagement angular position taken before the coupling member is engaged with the rotating force applying portion, in which the coupling member is inclined away from the rotational force transmitting angular position, and (iii) a disengaging angular position, which enables the coupling member to disengage from the driving shaft, and inclines the coupling member away from the rotational force transmitting angular position, in a direction opposite to the pre-engagement angular position.

摘要： A rotating force transmitting part is provided for an electrophotographic photosensitive drum for a main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The main assembly includes a motor-driven shaft having a rotating force applier. The drum is dismountable from the main assembly in a direction substantial perpendicular with an axial direction of the shaft. The part includes a coupler engageable with the force applier to receive a rotational force for rotating the drum when mounted to the main assembly. The coupler moves between a position for transmitting the rotational force for rotating the drum to the drum and a disengaged position inclined away from the axis of the drum. When the cartridge is dismounted from the main assembly substantially perpendicular to the axis of the drum, the coupler moves from the transmitting position to the disengaging position.
