摘要： A card connector apparatus includes a header connector having a housing mounted with a number of contacts for engaging with a card inserted into the apparatus, and an ejector for ejecting an inserted card. The ejector consists of a shielding shell fixed to the housing and defining a central guiding pin, a hole and a stop wall between the pin and the hole. A lever has a force exerting end, a force receiving tongue connecting with a push bar, a protrusion extending into the hole and a ridge between the protrusion and the force exerting end. An actuator has a central tab extending through the force exerting end to slidably engage with the pin and two side tabs for engaging with two lateral sides of an inserted card. When the ejector is actuated to eject a card fully inserted into the apparatus by pushing the push bar to pivot the lever, the lever first pivots about a contact point between the stop wall and the ridge so that the card can be ejected with a reduced required force. As soon as the card disengages from its connection with the contacts, the lever pivots about a contact point between the protrusion and the shielding shell so that the card can be ejected with a reduced operating time.

摘要： An electronic card connector adapted to mount to a circuit board and receive and electrically connect an electronic card to the circuit board includes an insulative header having a board facing side. Long and short contact terminals are received and retained in the header with tail ends thereof extending beyond the board facing side to electrically engage with the circuit board. The board facing side of the header has a recess defined therein corresponding to each of the long contact terminals. The recess has a depth sufficient to accommodate the difference of length between the long and short contact terminals thereby reducing the overall dimension of the connector. The electronic card connector includes a card release mechanism for ejecting the electronic card from the connector. The card release mechanism includes a card release bar that is movable with respect to the header to pivot an actuator which in turn drives the electronic card out of the connector. The header has an arm extending therefrom with a groove defined therein for guidingly receiving and supporting a front end of the card release bar. The electronic card connector has a casing enclosing the header. The casing has an inner side wall and an outer side wall defining a channel therebetween for guidingly and movably receiving a rear section of the card release bar thereby more securely supporting the card release bar with respect to the header.

摘要： A retention device for retaining a combination of a daughter card and a heat sink mounted on the daughter card to an electrical connector comprises a pair of retention mechanisms positioned on opposite ends of the electrical connector. Each retention device includes a base and a wall upwardly extending from the base. The wall defines a pair of vertical grooves which divide the wall into a pair of sidewall portions and a central wall portion. A pair of central blades and a pair of side blades inwardly extend from the central wall portion and the sidewall portions, respectively. The central wall portion of each retention mechanism forms a push bar at a free end thereof. The central wall portion and the central blades of each retention mechanism are outwardly flexible under a lower force, relative to the sidewall portions, and then revert to lock the daughter card and the heat sink to the electrical connector. Furthermore, each central blade forms a stopper laterally extending from a bottom edge thereof toward a proximate side blade to exert an ejecting force on a bottom edge of the heat sink when the central wall portion is deflected outward during ejection of the daughter card.

Contact elements are retained in the header and are electrically engageable with the electronic card. A card release bar is axially and movably mounted to one of the guide arms for operating a card release mechanism to release the electronic card from the connector. The release bar includes a button section having a fixed block fixed to the card release bar and a movable block pivotally mounted to the fixed block to be movable between a stowed position and a working position. Snap-fit elements are provided between the movable block and the fixed block corresponding to the stowed position and the working position for releasably retaining the movable block at the stowed position and the working position. A spring is mounted between the fixed block and the movable block for biasing the movable block toward the stowed position. In the absence of the snap-fit means, the spring helps to retain the movable block at the stowed position.

摘要： An ejector mechanism for a connector comprises a receptacle and an elastic device deformably received in the receptacle. An ejection plate is adapted to force the elastic device to deform and store tension when an external card is manually inserted into the connector and exerts a force on the ejection plate.
