    摘要: Systems and manufacturing methods are disclosed herein that can beneficially reduce manufacturing cost while providing size efficient enclosures to house hard drives or other types of storage drives. An enclosure system can be used for separately housing one of two storage devices having different thicknesses. A first portion can be interchangeable with both storage devices. Second and third portions can each have a thickness to size efficiently accommodate the thickness of one storage device. Each of the second and third portions has an engagement surface to engage the first portion forming an enclosure. Either the first portion, or both second and third portions can comprise an opening or a shock mounting element. When the opening or the shock mounting element are on both the second and third portions, the opening or the shock mounting element is collectively identically spaced from the engagement surface on both the second and third portions.

    摘要: A hard disk drive enters a low power mode to reduce power consumption. To maintain communication with a host device, a communication interface remains energized along with a circuit portion storing configuration data for the communication interface. To energize the communication interface and the circuit portion, low power voltage regulators provide suitable reference voltages. One low power voltage regulator is dedicated to this purpose. Another voltage regulator is converted from an active, switching mode to a low power, linear mode to provide the necessary reference voltage. Also, unique handshaking signals are used to control entry and exit from the low power mode by the hard disk drive.

    摘要: An external storage device enclosure includes a box-body portion and a cover-body portion. The box-body portion supports a storage device, and has a connection port. The cover-body portion includes a cover-board and a top-board. A first-side of the top-board connects the cover-board. The top-board is pivotally connected to the box-body portion through a rotation axis located a second-side of the top-board. When the cover-body portion rotates around the rotation axis and covers the storage device, a driving element of the cover-board contacts a first-side of the storage device to electrically connect a connection slot of the storage device and the connection port. When the cover-body portion rotates around the rotation axis and exposes the storage device, a releasing element located at the first-side of the top-board contacts a second-side of the storage device to electrically separate the connection slot of the storage device from the connection port.

The base includes a plate secured to the portable hard disk, a pair of sidewalls extending from the plate and pair of post extending from the plate between the two sidewalls. Each arm includes a tab pivotably mounted on the post via a screw, and a flange extending from the tab. The arms could be pivoted with respect to the base to sandwich the display of the computer between the flanges and the sidewalls of the bracket.
