Abstract: Described herein is a method. The method includes providing a filtration medium comprising a functionalized microporous membrane, wherein the functionalized microporous membrane comprises a plurality of guanidyl groups; contacting a biological fluid comprising a target with the filtration medium, wherein the biological fluid has a pH equal to or greater than an isoelectric point of the target; and eluting the target from the filtration medium with a second fluid to obtain a target solution, wherein the second fluid has a pH less than the pH of the biological fluid and less than an isoelectric point of the target.

Abstract: A method. The method includes providing a filter medium comprising a functionalized nonwoven; passing a first fluid containing cells through the filter medium, wherein at least some of the cells are captured by the functionalized nonwoven; passing a second fluid, and optionally a third and/or fourth fluid through the filter medium, wherein the second and/or third and/or fourth fluid disrupts at least one of the captured cells; and recovering an intracellular biological product in the first and/or second and/or third and/or fourth fluid.
