摘要: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for mitigating interference caused by tropospheric ducting are provided. Tropospheric ducting causes interference by propagating signals transmitted from one base station, which may be received by a second base station in a neighboring market operating on the same frequencies as the first base station. Atmospheric conditions are monitored to determine an interference probability, or a probability that tropospheric ducting is occurring, while an interference level is also determined. Based on the interference level and interference probability, it is determined whether to utilize a ducting mitigation mode in which the frequencies operating by antennas at the first base station are different than frequencies operating by antennas at the second base station. Upon determining whether to utilize the ducting mitigation mode, adjustments may be made to the antennas in accordance with the ducting mitigation mode.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention include a system for reducing tropospheric ducting and tropospheric refraction in a wireless telecommunication network. A base station or network component receives weather information and determines if conditions are right for tropospheric ducting or tropospheric refraction. A simultaneous rise in UL interference, call failure rates, and call drop rates in adjacent markets can indicate tropospheric ducting. A rise in UL interference, call failure rates, and call drop rates by devices in one market can indicate tropospheric refraction. Where these UL interferences, call failure rates, and call drop rates occur daily for a similar duration each day, they are treated as being caused by tropospheric propagation and a mitigation routine is implemented through antenna down-tilt.

摘要: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for dynamically optimizing the use of full-power broadcast beamforming within a wireless communication network are provided herein. Though full-power broadcast beamforming may result in increased interference and decrease throughput, the increased coverage area provided by full-power broadcast beamforming is favored under certain conditions, including the locations of user devices within a network cell. Accordingly, location data may be received from user devices within a network cell utilizing a plurality of beams, and the locations of each of the user devices may be used to determine whether to enable full-power broadcast beamforming where each beam within plurality of beams is at a maximum signal strength. Upon determining to enable full-power broadcast beamforming, a signal weight for one or more of the beams may be adjusted to full power.

摘要: A method, system, and medium are provided for presenting carrier-specific information associated with an incoming communication on a mobile network. The method, system, and medium include a device that receives call information associated with an incoming call. The call information includes carrier-identification information that is useable to identify an originating carrier responsible for originating the incoming call. The carrier-identification information is communicated to a database and the database retrieves carrier-specific data. The carrier-specific data is communicated to a mobile device and presented via a presentation component coupled to the mobile device. The carrier-specific data may include a carrier identifier (“carrier-ID”), geographic designation, and a denotation as to whether the incoming communication is an in-carrier communication versus an inter-carrier communication. The presentation component may include a display, a speaker, and a vibration apparatus.
