Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for reducing a maximum allowable transmit power of a wireless device. Instructions to reduce a maximum transmit power of wireless devices operating at a carrier band edge of a band channel maybe received at an access node. Power headroom reports may be collected from the wireless devices. The wireless devices may be classified based on the collected power headroom reports. Power reduction may be imposed on wireless devices classified as low power wireless devices and wireless devices classified as high power wireless devices may be handed off to a neighboring band channel.
Abstract:
At least one call paging message is sent to a wireless device to establish a call session with the wireless device, and it is determined whether a response is received from the wireless device to any of the at least one call paging message. When the call session is not established and a voice message is received which is intended for the wireless device, a timer comprising a timer value is initiated, wherein the timer value is based on a number of the at least one call paging message sent to the wireless device and whether a response is received from the wireless device to any of the at least one call paging message. A voice message page is sent to the wireless device when the timer expires, and a channel is established with the wireless device to provide the voice message to the wireless device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for extending coverage of a wireless device. A plurality of wireless devices located in a coverage area of a first access node can be monitored for a first condition. At least one wireless device of the plurality of wireless devices that meets the first condition can be classified as a high power wireless device. Two or more indicators reported by the at least one wireless device are compared to a criteria. When the two or more indicators meet the criteria, a handoff of the at least one wireless device from the first access node to a second access node can be performed.
Abstract:
In systems and methods of providing a message notification in a wireless communication system, at least one paging message is sent to a wireless device, and it is determined whether a response is received from the wireless device to any paging message. A timer is initiated comprising a timer value based on a number of the paging messages sent to the wireless device, and whether a response is received from the wireless device to any of the paging messages. When the timer expires, a message notification is sent to the wireless device indicating that the message is available for the wireless device.
Abstract:
In systems and methods of maintaining a network connection of a wireless device, network connection information is associated with the wireless device and is maintained at a gateway node in communication with a first communication network and a second communication network. A first network connection between the wireless device and the first communication network is terminated, and a second network connection is established between the wireless device and the second communication network using the network connection information, wherein the association of the network connection information and the wireless device is maintained until the second network connection is established.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for configuring a handover threshold for wireless devices in a wireless network. A plurality of wireless devices operating in a radio range of an access node (AN) are instructed to report an actual maximum allowable transmit power value at the AN. The plurality of wireless devices are classified based on the reported actual maximum allowable transmit power value. Handover thresholds for the plurality of wireless devices are configured based on the classification.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for allocating resources from an access node in a wireless network. Power reports may be received from multiple wireless devices at the access node. Based on the received power reports, the access node may classify each wireless device of the multiple wireless devices as a high power wireless device or a low power wireless device. An offset scheduling factor may be selected for wireless devices classified as high power wireless devices at the access node. Resources can be allocated for high power wireless devices using the selected offset scheduling factor.
