摘要: A mobile scaffold (10) having bi-axially rotatable casters (22-28) and including brake assemblies (30 and 32) associated with the casters (22-28) is disclosed. The inventive brake assemblies (30,32) enable an elevated worker to selectively control the mobility of the scaffold (10) and each broadly includes shiftable brake stop subassemblies (74 and 76), a brake housing (72) adjustably connected to a respective scaffold frame (12,14) and shiftably connected to the brake stop subassemblies (74,76), and an actuator (78) adjustably connected to the housing (72) and configured to shift the brake stop subassemblies (74,76) into and out of braking positions. When in the braking position, the brake stop subassemblies (74,76) prevent the respective casters (22-28) from rotating about both axes. The actuator includes cables (180,182) for interconnecting brake stop subassembly and the handle in one embodiment and a plunger (308,406) in other embodiments. Preferred alternative embodiments are disclosed that include pivotal linkage subassemblies (328,430) for intercommunicating the plunger and the brake stops.

The scaffolding (10) broadly includes a pair of frames (12) and (14), a platform (16) supported by the frames (12,14), a pair of casters (18, 20) and (22, 24) rollably supporting a respective one of the frames (12,14), and a brake assembly (26, 28, 30, and 32) associated with a corresponding one of the casters (18,20,22,24), respectively. The inventive brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) enable the worker supported on the platform (16) to selectively activate and deactivate the respective brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) from the platform (16). This enables the worker supported on the platform (16) to deactivate the brake assemblies (26,28,30,32), reposition the scaffolding (10), and then reactivate the brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) without requiring the worker to dismount from the platform (16).

摘要: A drywall cart for securely and safely carrying multiple sheets of wallboard is disclosed. The drywall cart broadly includes a platform for vertically supporting the wallboard, uprights for laterally supporting the wallboard, and casters for rollably supporting the platform and uprights. The platform includes a trough for receiving and supporting the wallboard. The trough minimizes the height of wallboard disposed in the drywall cart and thereby reduces the tendency of the loaded drywall cart to tip over. The minimal height of the wallboard is further enabled by attaching the casters laterally from the trough with outriggers. The outriggers extend from the trough and permit the trough to extend below a portion of the casters.

摘要: An enhanced safety scaffold assembly (10) is provided including end frames (12,14) interconnected by means of cross-tie structure (18,20). The end frames (12,14) include ledgers (36) located a safety distance (38) of at least about thirty inches below the upper ends (26b,28b) of the standards (26,28), and are free of additional ledgers within the safety distance. A platform (16) is supported by the ledgers (36), and guardrail assemblies (22,24) extend between opposed standards (26,28). In this way, the platform (16) is located well below the upper ends (26b,28b) of the standards (26,28) in accordance with existing safety regulations, and placement of a platform (16) in an unsafe, elevated position is precluded. The assemblies of the invention may be constructed in a variety of ways to include optional leveling units (58), ladders (44), outriggers (134) and supplemental work platforms (144).

The scaffolding (10) broadly includes a pair of frames (12) and (14), cross bracing (16) coupling the frames (12,14) together, and a plurality of walkboards (18, 20, and 22) removably supported between the frames (12,14). Each of the frames (12,14) includes a plurality of slotted ledgers (32, 34, 36, 38) and (40, 42, 44, 46) coupled to and extending horizontally between corresponding support posts (24,26) and (28,30), respectively. Each ledger is configured to facilitate initial assembly of the frames (12,14) and to prevent undesired shifting of a walkboard supported thereon. For example, the ledger (38) is defined by a U-shaped wall (60) that presents an arcuate walkboard bearing support surface (62) having open, recessed slots (64,66,68,70,72) defined therein. Each slot is configured and dimensioned to receive a portion of the supported walkboard and prevent shifting of the walkboard along the ledger axis.
