摘要： The present invention provides a process for direct hydroxylation of aromatic hydrocarbons like benzene to phenol, toluene to cresols and anisole to methoxy phenols by using hydrogen peroxide as environmentally benign oxidant in polar solvent like acetonitrile using vanadium phthalocyanine or its derivative as a catalyst, at a temperature in the range of 25-100° C.
