摘要： Provided is a modulating apparatus and method of an on-channel repeater. An object of the present invention is to provide a modulating apparatus of an on-channel repeater for reducing time delay by configuring and up-sampling a baseband signal, filtering the up-sampled baseband signal with an Equi-Ripple (ER) filter or in a window method, and converting the filtered baseband signal into an RF signal. The modulating apparatus includes: a baseband signal configuring unit for configuring a baseband. signal by combining an input field and a segment sync signal; a pilot adding unit for adding a pilot signal to the baseband signal; a filtering unit for filtering the baseband signal with the pilot signal; and an RF up-converting unit for up-converting the filtered signal into an RF signal. The present invention is used to form an on-channel repeating network in a transmitting system including a digital TV broadcasting system.

摘要： Provided is a frequency synchronizing apparatus and method that can synchronize frequencies between receiving signals and transmitting signals by extracting a carrier error and sampling timing error information in a synchronization process of the receiving signal from a main transmitter or another repeater and reflecting them in the transmitting signal in an on-channel repeater. The apparatus includes a carrier recovery means for compensating a carrier frequency error of a receiving signal; a timing recovery means for compensating a sampling timing error of the receiving signal; a carrier error reflecting means for reflecting the carrier frequency error extracted from the carrier recovery means to a transmitting signal; and a timing error reflecting means for reflecting the sampling timing error extracted from the timing recovery means to the transmitting signal. The present invention is used to form an on-channel repeating network in any transmission system including a digital television broadcasting system.

摘要： Provided is a modulation apparatus that can reduce time delay of on-channel repeaters in a terrestrial digital television broadcasting system. The time delay is caused by a filter during the modulation operation in the on-channel repeaters. The modulation apparatus of the present research includes: a baseband signal forming unit for forming a baseband signal by combining the output signals of an equalization unit with the pre-defined field/segment synchronization signals in the on-channel repeaters; a pilot inserting unit for inserting a pilot signal to the baseband signal; an up-sampling unit for up-sampling the baseband signal with the pilot signal; a VSB filtering unit for filtering the up-sampled baseband signal based on a Window technique and/or an Equi-Ripple filter to thereby form an in-phase (I) signal and a quadrature (Q) signal; an up-converting unit for up-converting the frequencies of the filtered I and Q signals to frequencies of an intermediate frequency (IF) band; an adding unit for adding the up-converted I and Q signals and converting a resultant signal into a digital VSB signal of the IF band; and a digital-to-analogue converting unit for converting the digital signal of the IF band to an analogue signal.

摘要： Provided is a demodulation apparatus capable of reducing time delay of an on-channel repeater in a terrestrial digital television (TV) broadcasting system and a demodulation method thereof. The demodulation method includes the steps of a) converting an analogue intermediate frequency (IF) signal into a digital IF signal; b) generating an in-phase (I) signal and a quadrature (Q) signal by converting the frequency of the digital IF signals and down-converting the frequencies of the pilot components of the I and Q signals so that the center frequencies of the I and Q signals could be shifted to 0; c) filtering the down-converted I and Q signals and maximizing signal-to-noise ratio; d) up-converting the filtered I and Q signals into baseband signals in which the center frequencies of the filtered I and Q signals are placed in baseband and shifting the frequency of the pilot components of the filtered I and Q signals to 0; and e) adding up the up-converted I and Q signals to restore the signals into baseband signals for broadcasting.

摘要： A repeater and method for an ATSC terrestrial digital TV broadcasting service. The on-channel repeater includes: a receiving unit for receiving a Radio Frequency (RF) broadcast signal from a main transmitter; a frequency downlink converting unit for converting the received RF broadcast signal into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal; a demodulating unit for converting the converted IF signal into a baseband signal; an equalizing unit for removing noise and multi-path signals generated from the converted baseband signal; a modulating unit for converting the baseband signal into an IF signal; a frequency uplink converting unit for converting the IF signal into a RF broadcast signal; a high power amplifying unit for amplifying and repeating the converted RF broadcast signal; a transmitting unit for transmitting the RF broadcast signal outputted from the high power amplifying unit; and a signal synchronizing unit for generating the first reference frequency, and generating the second reference frequency based on the first reference frequency such that the transmission/reception signal are frequency-and-phase synchronized.

摘要： Provided are an on-channel repeater and a method thereof. The on-channel repeater can extract reception channel information from signals transmitted from a main transmitter or another repeater, compensate for channel distortion caused on a transmission channel by inversely reflecting the extracted reception channel information to the received signals, and transmit the channel-distortion compensated signals through the same channel as a reception channel, and a method thereof. The on-channel repeater includes: a receiver for receiving RF signals transmitted from outside; a down-converter for down-converting the received RF signals into signals of a desired band; a channel-estimator for estimating an inverse value of a reception channel based on the down-converted signals; an adaptation filter for compensating for channel distortion by using a filter having the inverse value of the estimated reception channel; an up-converter for up-converting the channel distortion-compensated signals into RF signals; and a transmitter for transmitting the up-converted RF signals.

摘要： Provided are an on-channel repeater and a method thereof. The repeater receives signals on one channel and distributes the signals on the same channel by converting RF signals from a main transmitter into baseband signals; equalizing them in a high-performance equalizer, adding a repeater identifier to them; modulating the baseband signals with the repeater identifier into RF signals. The repeater includes: a receiver for receiving RF signals; a demodulator for demodulating the RF signals into baseband signals; an equalizer for equalizing the baseband signals; an adder for adding a repeater identifier to the baseband signals; a modulator for modulating the baseband signals with the repeater identifier added in the adder into RF signals; and a transmitter for transmitting the RF signals modulated in the modulator. The technology of the present invention is used to form an on-channel repeating network in an arbitrary transmission system including a digital television broadcasting system.

摘要： An apparatus for correcting a non-linear distortion includes a pre-distorter for pre-distorting a transmit signal inputted from an external apparatus based on pre-distortion characteristics outputted from a pre-distortion characteristic predictor; a modulator for modulating the pre-distorted signal to thereby generate a modulated signal; a frequency up-converter for up-converting a frequency of the modulated signal to thereby generate an up-converted signal; a high power amplifier for amplifying the up-converted signal to a high power amplified signal; a frequency down-converter for down-converting a frequency of the high power amplified signal, thereby generate a down-converted signal; a demodulator for demodulating the down-converted signal, to thereby generate a demodulated signal; a high power amplifying characteristic predictor for predicting characteristics of the high power amplifier based on the pre-distorted signal and the demodulated signal; and a pre-distortion characteristic predictor for predicting the pre-distortion characteristics based on the pre-distorted signal and the predicted high power amplifying characteristics.
