    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a coil component that includes a coil part having a structure in which a plurality of conductor layers each having a coil pattern are stacked in a coil axis direction through a plurality of interlayer insulating films, a first magnetic layer covering the coil part in the coil axis direction, and a second magnetic layer positioned in an inner diameter area of the coil part. The plurality of interlayer insulating films include a first interlayer insulating film positioned closest to the first magnetic layer. The first and second magnetic layers contact each other through an opening formed in the first interlayer insulating film. The opening has a shape whose diameter increases as a distance from an interface between the first and second magnetic layers increases.

    Abstract: A coil component has a magnetic element body made of resin containing magnetic particles, a coil part embedded in the magnetic element body, conductor posts which are embedded in the magnetic element body and whose one ends are connected to the coil part and the other ends are exposed from the magnetic element body, an insulating layer interposed between the conductor posts and the magnetic element body, and other insulating layers interposed between the coil part and the magnetic element body. Since the insulating layer is interposed between the conductor posts and the magnetic element body, it is possible to ensure insulation performance between the conductor posts and the magnetic element body and to prevent the occurrence of peeling therebetween.

    Abstract: To improve a coil component having a structure in which a coil part is embedded in a magnetic member. A coil component includes a coil part embedded in the magnetic members and terminal electrodes each made of a conductive paste. Conductor layers constituting the coil part respectively have coil conductor patterns and electrode patterns exposed from a mounting surface. The terminal electrode has an area provided at a position covering the electrode patterns on the mounting surface and areas provided at positions not covering the electrode patterns on the mounting surface. A part of the area constitutes a protruding part protruding in the x-direction. The terminal electrode thus has the protruding part, thereby making misalignment of mounting position in the z-direction less likely to occur at the time of mounting.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a coil component that includes plural conductor layers embedded in the magnetic element body. Each of the conductor layers includes a coil pattern, and first and second connection patterns exposed from the magnetic element body. The conductor layers includes a first conductor layer positioned at one end portion in the stacking direction, a second conductor layer positioned at the other end portion in the stacking direction, and one or more third conductor layers positioned between the first and second conductor layers. In the second conductor layer, an outer peripheral end of the coil pattern is connected to the second connection pattern through a lead-out pattern. In at least one of the first to third conductor layers, the magnetic element body is disposed in a separation area overlapping the lead-out pattern in the stacking direction.

    Abstract: To suppress an increase in DC resistance due to surface roughening in a coil component including a spiral pattern. A coil component manufacturing method includes: a first step of forming a conductor layer including a spiral pattern spirally wound in a plurality of turns; a second step of selectively roughening an upper surface and an upper region of a peripheral-direction side surface of the spiral pattern; and a third step of forming an insulating resin layer so as to embed therein the conductor layer, and the first to third steps are repeatedly performed. Since the upper surface and the upper region of the side surface of the spiral pattern are selectively roughened, it is possible to suppress an increase in DC resistance due to excessive roughening at the lower region of the side surface.

    Abstract: To achieve a high inductance value while reducing the entire thickness in a coil component having a structure in which spiral coil patterns are stacked. A coil component includes: a coil part having a structure in which interlayer insulating films and spirally wound coil patterns are alternately stacked in the axial direction of the coil component; and magnetic element members embedding therein the coil part. The interlayer insulating film covering, from one end side in the axial direction, one coil pattern positioned at the one end in the axial direction is higher in permeability than the interlayer insulating films. Thus, the one coil pattern positioned at the end portion is covered with the interlayer insulating film having a high permeability, so that it is possible to achieve a high inductance value while reducing the entire thickness.

    Abstract: To improve magnetic characteristics of a coil component having a structure in which an interlayer insulating film is provided between a spiral coil pattern and a magnetic element body. A coil component 1 includes: an interlayer insulating film 41 covering coil patterns CP1 to CP3 from one side in the axial direction of the coil patterns; a magnetic element body M1 filled in the inner diameter areas of the coil patterns CP1 to CP3; and a magnetic element body M2 covering the coil patterns CP1 to CP3 from the one side in the axial direction through the interlayer insulating film 41. The interlayer insulating film 41 has a protruding part 41A radially protruding to the inner diameter area, and the protruding part 41A is curved to the other side in the axial direction. Since the protruding part 41A is curved in the axial direction, the entrance of a magnetic path passing through the inner diameter area is made wider than when the protruding part 41A linearly protrudes to the inner diameter area. This suppresses deterioration in magnetic characteristics due to the presence of the protruding part 41A.
