摘要： A portable information processing apparatus which has a main body having front and rear edge, and a lid pivotally attached to said rear edge of said main body, The lid has an LCD unit having a liquid crystal and a light conducting plate for guiding light through the LCDI to the front surface of the LCD unit, and a cover that extends over the rear face of the LCD unit. A thinner portion is provided at one edge of the light conducting plate than the opposite edge, with the thinner portion being positioned close to the rear edge of the main body. A hinge pivotally attaching the lid to the main body at the rear edge portion has a torque plate wound around a shaft of the hinge to support the lid and is mounted in a space defined by the cover and the thinner portion of the light conducting plate.

摘要： An upper frame comprises a base part, end parts and side walls. The base part has a picture-frame shape continuous in the circumferential direction. The base part has four inner limbs, and the end parts extend from the inner limbs. In a state in which the end parts do not press a liquid crystal display panel, the end parts are bent relative to the base part in the direction of the liquid crystal display panel which is to be placed, i.e., in the direction in which the liquid crystal display panel is to be pressed. Considering the relation to the side walls, each of the end parts forms an acute angle. The side walls are pendent from outer limbs of the base part at a substantially right angle and are continuous in the circumferential direction.

A touch ball made of, for example, an acetal resin is provided at a pen tip of an input pen. The touch ball is held via a first spring and a second spring. Furthermore, respective spring constants of the first spring and the second spring are set in such a manner as to establish the relationship of (a displacement of the first spring)>(a displacement of the second spring)>(a deformation of the touch ball) when pressing force for pressing the touch ball toward a main body shaft acts. Thus, it is possible to suppress any deformation of the soft touch ball even if the input pen is strongly pressed against a screen of a touch panel or the like.
