Abstract:
In a fault diagnosis or a process simulation arrangement, data is held on first interactions between attributes of a part and between attributes of a parent part and a child part according to object parts in a parts data base. Data on an order for executing processes and data on a process model describing each process operation as second interactions between attributes of a medium and a part used in the process operation are held in a process model memory. In the fault diagnosis, fault statuses of attributes of parts and media used in each process are determined as candidates for causes of effecting statuses of attributes corresponding to the fault of the following process in reverse order of the execution order held in the process model memory using model based reasoning by referring to the first and second interaction relationships and statuses of attributes of the parts and the media determined in the following process. The attributes of the parts and the media may be expressed as a tree structure. The simulation is performed by determining statuses of attributes of parts and media used in each process sequentially in the execution order held in the process model memory using model based reasoning by referring to the first and second interactions and statuses of the parts and media determined in a preceding process.

A color processing apparatus includes an input range obtaining unit configured to obtain an input range of input color data represented by a first color space that is an extended color space, a setting unit configured to set grid point coordinate values for each of a plurality of color components included in the input color data, and a generating unit configured to generate a look-up table by performing conversion processing on each of look-up-table coordinate values corresponding to grid point coordinate values set for the plurality of color components, and storing a result of the conversion processing in the look-up table. The setting unit sets the grid point coordinate values such that each of the primary colors in a second color space that is a base color space is located at a grid point and the color components have the identical grid point coordinate values among the primary colors.

When an execution instruction file including a description of an instruction to execute processing is input into a first folder, job data to be subjected to processing that is stored in the first folder is moved to a second folder different from the first folder. After the movement, a file including a description indicating that execution of the processing is underway is stored in the first folder. The processing is executed with respect to the job data to be subjected to the processing that was moved to the second folder, and when the processing ends, a file including a description of an end of the processing is stored in the first folder in place of the file including a description indicating that execution of the processing is underway.

An image processor which improves the reproducibility of the color blue, includes an input device which inputs color image data, and a color correction device which performs color correction of the input color image data based on color correction parameters. An output device outputs the color corrected input image data to an image forming device that forms an image by using recording materials corresponding to a plurality of colors including magenta and cyan. The color correction device decreases the amount of magenta used for image formation, and uses the color correction parameters to suppress the elimination of gradation in a color zone formed by cyan.

A device is allowed to execute a job which is related to calibration work. Inconvenience such that a general job other than the calibration work is erroneously executed by a printer or a copier whose calibration is being executed is prevented. For this purpose, according to the invention, information showing that the calibration of an image forming apparatus is being executed is stored, and a job assigned to the image forming apparatus whose calibration is being executed is assigned to another image forming apparatus.

A calibration target curve with less error is provided even when the number of points to be edited of the calibration target curve is small. An efficient and accurate method for editing or generating the calibration target curve is also provided. For this purpose, on the basis of specified input data values versus a plurality of predetermined output density values, there is generated a calibration target curve which shows the correspondence relation from the input data values to the output density values.
