An electrophotographic toner showing a good fixability onto recording paper is constituted by at least a binder resin and a colorant, the binder resin comprising a resin component having a polar group, the binder resin having a molecular weight distribution according to gel permeation chromatography including a peak in a molecular weight region of 5.times.10.sup.3 -5.times.10.sup.4. The toner is used to develop an electrostatic image formed on a electrophotographic photosensitive member including at least an electroconductive support, a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer, and the resultant toner image is transferred onto a recording medium without difficulties such as occurrence of cracks on the photosensitive member or inferior transferability by using a photosensitive member having a surface layer containing a transition metal atom at 0.1-10 ppm. The surface of the photosensitive member may preferably show a fluorine atom/carbon atom (F/C) ratio or/and a silicon atom/carbon atom (Si/C) ratio, respectively, of 0.03-1.0 as measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

A color toner for developing electrostatic images is formed of color toner particles each including a binder resin, a polyalkylene, and a colorant. The color toner particles are formed by suspension polymerization. The polyalkylene is characterized by having a crystallinity of 10-50% and a melting enthalpy (as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter) of at most 35 cal/g. The color toner is characterized by an improved fixability without causing offset especially at a relatively low temperature and suitable for providing a transparency film for an overhead projection.

A toner and a two-component developer for developing electrostatic images are disclosed. The toner comprises toner particles and the two-component developer comprises the toner and a carrier. The toner particle has a two-layer structure of a core layer and a surface layer, produced by suspension polymerization. The core layer and surface layer are mainly comprised of a resin having a low softening point and a resin having a high softening point, respectively. In the surface layer, a polyester resin having a specific acid value and a specific molecular weight is included to impart an appropriate water absorption to the toner. Due to the appropriate water absorption and superior fluidity, the toner can achieve a speedy rise of charge to give electrostatic charges in a stable quantity over a long period of time, and it can give a high image density and images with superior fine-line reproduction and highlight reproduction.

An image-forming method is disclosed. A color toner image formed on an electrostatic latent image carrier is transferred onto one surface of a transfer material and fixed on the transfer material by a fixing means through heating and melting. An other color toner image formed on the electrostatic latent image carrier is transferred onto an other surface opposite to the color toner-fixed surface of the transfer material and fixed, thereby forming color images fixed on both surfaces of the transfer material. The color toner forming the color images contains toner particles directly obtained by suspension polymerization, and the toner particles contain wax.
