摘要： There is provided an inkjet printing apparatus which can restrict each of coloring of reflected light and image clarity within an allowable range required in each of a color mode and a monochromatic mode in any of the modes to output an image with a high grade. For this end, a print duty of each of the first image improving liquid and the second image improving liquid is set in such a manner that a ratio of the print duty of the first image improving liquid having low penetratability to the print duty of the second image improving liquid having high penetratability is higher in the monochromatic mode than that in the color mode. Thereby, an appropriate ratio and an appropriate amount of appropriate kinds of the image improving liquids are applied to each of the color mode and the monochromatic mode.

摘要： The present invention suppresses a bronzing phenomenon that occurs easily in inkjet printing that uses pigment ink, and minimizes other effects on the image quality by particularly minimizing the change in gray balance. Of at least first and second achromatic inks having different densities of pigment coloring material, the amount of resin in the second achromatic ink (light gray ink) having the lowest density of coloring material is increased, and on the achromatic color axis, a specified amount of light gray ink is used up to gradations other than highlighted areas, and light gray ink is printed in scans after all the inks that include the second achromatic ink. As a result, it is possible to reduce the bronzing phenomenon.

摘要： An image processing method includes the steps of converting input image data to ink color data corresponding to each amount of a plurality of colors of achromatic inks used for printing, and generating printing data for first, second and third achromatic inks based on the ink color data. The printing data is used for printing by causing a printing head to scan a common image area in a printing medium a plurality of times, the printing head ejecting the plurality of colors of inks. The converting step converts the input image data to ink color data for the first, second and third achromatic inks so that the first achromatic ink is used with respect to a value of the input image data indicating achromatic color, and the generating step generates the printing data for the first, second and third achromatic inks so as to (a) make a printing duty for the first achromatic ink during first half of the plurality of scans higher than a printing duty for the first achromatic ink during the latter half of the plurality of scans, and (b) make printing duties for the second and third achromatic inks during the latter half of the scans higher than in the first half of the scans.

摘要： Mask patterns to be used for multi-pass printing make it possible to make a print with a higher quality at a higher speed. Specifically, by performing a swapping process with adjacency forbiddance, two points in the horizontal direction, or the scanning direction of a printing head, are selected in a buffer in which codes for each scan pass are set depending on printing ratios of a gradation mask. Subsequently, codes are swapped between the two points. By this swap, adjacencies between print permitting areas are eliminated in the mask pattern. As a result, when driving frequencies set for the printing head is kept constant, the scanning speed can be doubled at minimum.

摘要： High image quality is maintained even on front and rear ends of a printing medium where deterioration in the image quality is more likely to occur due to reduction in conveyance accuracy of the printing medium. In printing on the front and rear ends, the printing medium being not supported by both conveying means respectively placed upstream and downstream of a printing point in a printing medium conveying direction, a print swath of a printing head and the amount of conveying a printing medium are reduced. Moreover, the reducing print swath and the reducing conveyance amount are designed to be decreased in the cases of selecting a printing medium for high-quality printing as well as a monochrome print mode where image distortion caused by deviation of ink-landing positions is more noticeable due to a small number of colors of ink to be used and low coverage thereof.
