    摘要: A color liquid crystal display panel with improvements in brightness of display, viewing angle and workability which comprises a liquid crystal layer which is provided with two light-polarizing plates on opposite side as substrates. One of the light-polarizing plates is made, in the following order, from the light-polarizing layer, a color filter layer formed on the outside surface of a protective film layer, the protective film layer of non-rotary polarization polymer and a transparent conductive film layer formed on the inside surface of the protective film layer. The other light-polarizing plate is made in the following order, from the light-polarizing layer and a transparent conductive film layer.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a high-performance light-polarizing film assuming a neutral gray wherein are adsorbed and oriented, in a polymer film, (A) iodine as a main polarizing coloring matter and additionally (B) a dichroism dye having a absorption characteristics and polarization characteristics in the low wavelength region of visible light and showing, when adsorbed and oriented together with iodine in a polymer film, a direction of transition moment substantically identical with that of iodine and/or a dichroism dye having absorption characteristics and polarization characteristics in the high wavelength region of visible light and showing, when adsorbed and oriented together with iodine in a polymer film, a direction of transition moment substantially identical with that of iodine. As compared with the prior iodine type light-polarizing films, the light-polarizing film obtained in the above-mentioned manner has a high light transmittance in the wavelength range of visible light, assumes a neutral gray and has a high polarizing co-efficient. Accordingly, it is effectively usable as a liquid crystal material for liquid crystal television and the like and effectively applicable to optical uses such as CRT filter and the like.

    摘要: Highly durable, light-polarizing film having neutral gray as well as high polarizing coefficient is provided. The film comprises a uniaxially stretched base polymer film of, for example, polyvinyl alcohol or derivatives thereof and at least two dichroism dyes adsorbed and orientated therein. The dichroism dyes are, for example, C.I. DIrect Yellow 12, C.I. Direct Black 17 and C.I. Direct Blue 202. The film is usable for display by liquid crystal. A boric-acid treatment is used to improve the polarization properties.

    摘要: A phase retarder obtained by uniaxially stretching a thermoplastic resin film, whose retardation value ranges from 30 to 1200 nm and whose color difference .DELTA.E* is not more than 30 as defined with the phase retarder being set between crossed polarizers in such a manner that the optical axis thereof makes an angle of 45.degree. with respect to the planes of polarization of the polarizers, and a liquid crystal display using the phase retarder are disclosed. The phase retarder has a fixed optical axis, a retardation value suited for new optical uses including liquid crystal displays, and freedom from optical color unevenness. The liquid crystal display using the phase retarder exhibits markedly improved image quality.
