Abstract: A battery module includes a monoblock comprising one or more battery cells, a first power path electrically coupled to the monoblock and electrically couplable to one or more terminals, a switching device coupled to the first power path and configured to open and to close a circuit thereof, a control system that controls the switching device, and a second power path electrically coupled to the monoblock. The second power path is configured to provide power to the control system. An absence of a voltage signal from the second power path detected by the control system causes the switching device to open to electrically disconnect the one or more terminals of the first power path. Detection of the voltage signal from the second power path by the control system may cause the switching device to close to electrically connect the one or more terminals of the first power path.

Abstract: A battery module system includes one or more monoblocks each having one or more cells and a ventilation chamber configured to contain gases vented by the one or more cells. The system includes a channel having an exhaust vent that is in flow communication with each of the one or more monoblocks. A seal is positioned between each ventilation chamber of the one or more monoblocks and the channel and is actuatable when a threshold is achieved in the ventilation chamber associated with the seal.

Abstract: A battery system includes a first battery cell; a second battery cell positioned adjacent to the first battery cell; and a fusible link connecting the first battery cell to the second battery cell. The fusible link having a first tab connected to and extending from the first battery cell; a second tab connected to and extending from the second battery cell; and a connection connecting the first tab to the second tab; the connection is to release the first tab from the second tab upon being heated to a threshold temperature; and releasing the first tab from the second tab protects the first battery cell from thermal runaway conditions of the second cell.
