    摘要: A system and method for synchronizing clocks related to telecommunications throughout s point-to-multipoint optical network utilizes downstream data timed using a high frequency transmission clock to distribute timing information of a central telecom-based clock to remote terminals. In an exemplary embodiment, the point-to-multipoint optical network system is an Ethernet-based passive optical network (PON) system that operates in accordance with a Gigabit Ethernet standard. The timing information of the central telecom-based clock is extracted from the downstream data at each remote terminal by recovering the high frequency transmission clock and then, deriving a reference clock, which is synchronized with the central telecom-based clock, from the recovered transmission clock. The reference clock is then used to generate one or more telecom-related clocks that are needed by the remote terminal. The system and method allows telecom-related clocks throughout the system to be synchronized in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

    摘要: An emergency message handling system may manage emergency SMS text messages sent by wireless mobile communication devices, such as to 911. Each message may be sent to an emergency call service having a TTY messaging system. The emergency message handling system may include an SMS network interface, a computer processing system, and a TTY network interface. The SMS network interface may be configured to receive the emergency SMS text messages. The computer processing system may include an SMS-To-TTY message converter configured to convert each of the emergency SMS text messages into TTY format. The TTY network interface may be configured to deliver each of the converted emergency SMS text messages in TTY format to the TTY messaging system of the emergency call service to which the emergency SMS text message was sent. Emergency TTY messages from the emergency call service to the wireless mobile communication device may similarly be delivered to the TTY network interface, converted by a TTY-To-SMS message converter in the computer processing system into SMS format, and sent by the SMS network interface to the wireless mobile communication device.

    摘要: A signal generator including a calibration circuit for providing periodic recalibration of the generator, including a reference frequency source for producing a fixed frequency signal. A voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for producing a variable frequency signal in accordance with a voltage input to the VCO. An adjustable dividing network coupled to the VCO for dividing the variable frequency signal by a particular divider (N) to produce an output signal equal to the variable frequency signal divided by "N". A phase detector coupled to the reference frequency source and the dividing network for producing an error signal in accordance with the difference between the fixed frequency signal and the output signal. A filter coupled to the phase detector for producing an error voltage signal representative of the error signal. A programmable nonvolatile storage for storing a plurality of individual values representative of the plurality of frequency steps from the VCO. A converter coupled to the programmable storage for converting the stored values to a plurality of individual voltage signals. A summer coupled to the filter and the converter for summing the signals and applying the summed signals to the VCO for controlling the VCO to particular frequency steps. A comparator coupled to the phase detector for comparing the error signal to a fixed reference for producing a control signal in accordance with the comparison, and a controller coupled to the comparator and the programmable storage for reprogramming the plurality of individual values to recalibrate the frequency steps in accordance with the control signal.
