摘要:
A cigarette smoking article includes a tobacco rod and a dual filter comprising a tobacco rod end segment made of cellulose acetate tow and a mouth end segment made of a gathered, perforated polymeric film blended with a whitener to produce a substantially non-staining mouth end surface. The polymeric film may also comprise a coextruded flavor film with a flavor carrier layer disposed between a pair of barrier layers for releasing a flavorant into the mainstream smoke during smoking of the cigarette. Transparent wraps may be used to construct the cigarette from the component parts so that the filtration surfaces of the filter rod are visible through the wraps.

Olefins are polymerized in the presence of catalysts prepared from titanium compounds prepared by reacting a titanium compound such as titanium tetraisopropoxide with a compound containing at least one aliphatic hydroxyl group.
摘要:
A method for monitoring the concentration of at least one volatile or semi-volatile compound contained in at least one air stream carrying at least one volatile or semi-volatile compound and apparatus for performing the method, which includes the steps of calibrating at least one gas chromatograph using at least three different calibration gases, obtaining a sample of the at least one air stream containing the at least one compound, providing the sample of the at least one air stream to the at least one gas chromatograph under control of a digital data processor to analyze the sample of the at least one air stream to determine the concentration of the at least one compound in the sample and controlling the operations using the digital data processor.

.alpha.-Olefins are polymerized in the presence of Ziegler-Natta catalysts which are polymer supported compounds or complexes of elements of the d-block transition metals, lanthanide or actinide series. An example of the polymer support is chloromethylated polystyrene-divinyl benzene copolymer covalently bonded to catechol. An example of the compound or complex of an element of the transition metal, lanthanide or actinide series is that which results when catechol which is covalently bonded to the polymer is contacted with titanium tetraisopropoxide.

Supported Ti.sup.III catalysts are prepared by contacting a slurry of a solid inorganic support such as magnesium chloride in a hydrocarbon medium such as Isopar.RTM. E containing a tetravalent titanium compound containing at least two halogen atoms such as titanium tetrachloride with hydroquinone or a substituted hydroquinone.

Catalyst compositions are disclosed which are a combination of a supported titanium compound such as titanium tetraisopropoxide supported on magnesium dichloride and at least one other supported metallic catalyst such as dicyclopentadienyl zirconium dichloride supported on alumina and a cocatalyst such as aluminoxane. These catalysts are useful in the polymerization of .alpha.-olefins.
