摘要： An apparatus adapted to disseminate volatile liquid into an atmosphere from a reservoir, the transfer to atmosphere being achieved by means of a porous transfer member that transfers liquid from the reservoir to an evaporation surface. The evaporation surface is a capillary sheet substantially transversely from the transfer member, and being further characterized in that the material of the sheet is a plastics material having a Shore D hardness of from around 50 to 80 and a thickness of from 0.75-1.25 mm. These sheets make especially good liquid transfer contact with the transfer member.

The device is cheap and easy to construct, versatile and diffuses odour without major changes of the odour over time.

摘要： A device adapted to disseminate a volatile liquid, such as a fragrance, into an atmosphere comprises a reservoir (1) containing the liquid (6) and a capillary means (8) for conveying the liquid from the reservoir to the atmosphere. The reservoir has an upper orifice (2) into which the capillary means fits loosely. This orifice is in liquid-tight contact with a tubular member (3), which extends downwards into the reservoir, the tubular member and reservoir being proportioned such as to define a liquid-retaining volume regardless of the orientation of the device. The liquid is preferably introduced by means of a sealed cartridge (5), which may be supplied separately or as an integral part of the device. The device allows the use of a wide variety of capillary means and has the advantage of being spillproof.

The reservoir orifice is closed by a puncturable membrane, and the transfer member is mounted adjacent to the orifice on the side of the membrane remote from the liquid and adapted such that it can be pushed through the puncturable membrane into, and then held in contact with, the liquid in the reservoir, to permit the flow of the liquid from the reservoir to the atmosphere. The liquid transfer member preferably comprises capillary channels. The apparatus has the advantage of being leakproof in transit.
