    摘要: An electrical discharge machining apparatus having an improved bed which provides improved control over the gap between a machining head and a workpiece by reducing the amount of deformation produced in the bed when the table and saddle are moved. The bed is constituted by an upper plate and side plates, with saddle guide rails being disposed on the upper plate, a saddle movably mounted on the saddle guide rails, table guide rails mounted on the saddle, and a workpiece-supporting table movably mounted on the saddle guide rails. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the saddle guide rails are positioned at the edges of the upper plate, directly above the side plates of the bed. In another embodiment, reinforcing members are provided under the upper plate, extending parallel to and directly under respective ones of guide rails.

A blower is provided for forcing cooling air into the interior of a bed, a column, and a head of the apparatus to prevent thermal displacements between the electrode and the workpiece and thus ensure accurate machining. The blower may also be used to cool the machining liquid.

    摘要: An electric discharge machining apparatus of the travelling wire or sink type includes at least one secondary electrode which is immersed in the dielectric at least during machining. A microvoltage power supply is used to create a micropotential difference between the workpiece and the secondary electrode so that the workpiece becomes a negative pole. Maintaining this arrangement both during machining and non-machining times prevents the workpiece from being subjected to positive-pole oxidation.

    摘要: An electrical discharge machining (EDM) apparatus having one or more dielectric tanks, each having one or more compartments, connected to an EDMing tank by pipes, defining input and output dielectric paths and having selectively placed therein pumps and control valves. The tanks are used for containing dielectric during roughing and finishing operations. Filters are used in the paths for removal of particles suspended in the dielectric. A filter loop with input and output paths containing a bidirectional filter can be used to filter and store finishing powders from a finishing dielectric and to regenerate the finishing dielectric by backwashing the filter with clean dielectric to replace the powder in the dielectric. Various combinations of inputs, discharge and filter paths may be used with various designs of dielectric tanks, having one or more compartments, in order to meet particular operational requirements. The operation of valves and filters in the disclosed invention can occur automatically, in response to the output from various detectors, positioned to identify respective system parameters.

The electric power unit for machining of a wire electric discharge machine includes an electric discharge state discriminating means (1a) for discriminating a state of electric discharge generated between the electrodes and an impression voltage selecting means (1b) for inverting the polarity of the electric discharge inductive pulse voltage from the previous electric discharge inductive pulse voltage when an electric discharge state between the electrodes is discriminated to be abnormal (Y1) or open (Y3) by the electric discharge state discriminating means (1a) and for making the polarity of the electric discharge inductive pulse voltage to be the same as the polarity of the previous electric discharge inductive pulse voltage when the electric discharge state between the electrodes is discriminated to be normal (Y2) by the electric discharge state discriminating means. Thus the machining efficiency is improved.
