    摘要: A primary power supply charges a capacitor by turning on a switching element and, upon completion of charging, turns off the switching element. Then, an AC pulse voltage is applied to the gap between a wire electrode and a workpiece by alternately turning on and off a switching element present in a secondary power supply. After a dielectric breakdown occurs between the wire electrode and the workpiece, the switching element is turned on to connect the capacitor so that the capacitor supplies a pulse current for machining.

    摘要: A control unit controls an on/off operation of a switching unit such that a first DC pulse voltage is applied across an electrode gap from a pulse-voltage generation unit adjusted to a first impedance, and when a detection unit detects a preliminary discharge, a second DC pulse voltage is applied across the electrode gap from the pulse-voltage generation unit adjusted to a second impedance, which is lower than the first impedance, so as to generate a main discharge in the electrode gap, and during an idle time since the main discharge is completed until the next preliminary discharge is started, a third DC pulse voltage that is equal to or higher than a discharge arc voltage is applied across the electrode gap from the pulse-voltage generation unit adjusted to a third impedance, which is higher than the first impedance.

    摘要: An apparatus for electrical discharge machining modulation control includes an EDM module, an open-circuit voltage modulation module, a reference-voltage modulation and judgment module, a database, and a control unit. The control unit selects a reference voltage, and an open-circuit voltage corresponding to characteristics of a workpiece from the database, and generates and transmits a second control signal to the open-circuit voltage modulation module for modulating the open-circuit voltage, and a third control signal to the reference-voltage modulation and judgment module for modulating the reference voltage utilized to determine if the ignition happened. The open-circuit voltage modulation module receives a first control signal periodically transmitted from the control unit for providing the open-circuit voltage to the EDM module. The reference-voltage modulation and judgment module performs an arc voltage measurement procedure, then the control unit determines the open-circuit voltage and the reference voltage.

    摘要: A power supply device for a wire electric discharge machine is provided with a main DC power source and an auxiliary DC power source with variable voltage. While first pulses are being output, a voltage from the main DC power source is applied to a machining gap between a wire electrode and a workpiece. While second pulses are being output with the output of the first pulses stopped, inductive energy stored by an inductance in a circuit is passed through the gap, and a voltage corresponding to a peak current value provided by the main DC power source is applied to the gap by the auxiliary DC power source. When the output of the second pulses is stopped, the inductive energy is returned to the main DC power source.

From a first time (t1) when electric discharge is generated across the machining gap, until a second time (t2) when the gap current reaches the peak current during the ON time, both of the first and second switching elements are on. At the second time (t2) only one of the first and second switching elements is turned off.

    摘要: An electric discharge machining apparatus having a gate signal generator for generating a gate signal, a power source for applying a voltage across a work gap formed between a tool electrode and a workpiece, a gap voltage detector for detecting a gap voltage of the work gap, an electric discharge detector for supplying an electric discharge detection signal representing electric discharge to the gate signal generator. The electric discharge detector includes a counter for generating a sample clock having a frequency greater than the frequency of the gate signal, and a comparator for receiving the gap voltage and determining that a fall in the gap voltage is larger than a specified voltage difference in each sample clock. The electric discharge detection signal is generated in response to an output signal of the comparator.

In an electric discharge device that processes a workpiece by electric discharge, a reserve electric-discharge pulse is applied by alternately switching between a positive polarity and a reverse polarity, and a current waveform shape of a main electric-discharge pulse is differentiated corresponding to a polarity of a reserve electric-discharge pulse, to a main electric-discharge pulse to be applied after detecting electric discharge following the reserve electric-discharge pulse. With this arrangement, a processing current shape can be optimized corresponding to an electric discharge characteristic, and thus a high-precision process can be performed.
