摘要: A high-reliability file system which surely keeps multiple file data on one drive even if some drives have failed. If renewal of a plurality of blocks of a disk by data in a buffer is necessary, a buffer manager renews the disk by all the data in the buffer which are to be renewed in the future. Flush management is carried out by the drive and the buffer manager. If another drive is "examining" or "renewing" when a flush (renewal) is to be executed, a sequencing means temporarily restrains the buffer manager from starting the flush.

摘要: A stand-by system replicates a program module to an active object and a passive object. During execution of operations of the active object, when the active object fails, operations continue to be executed in the passive object. There is provided a checkpoint period memory for storing a checkpoint period, a detecting unit for detecting whether an internal state of the active object has been changed according to the checkpoint period, a consistency maintaining unit for maintaining consistency of the internal state between the active object and the passive object when the internal state has been changed, and a checkpoint period changing unit for increasing the checkpoint period when the internal state has not been changed.

摘要: In a data transfer scheme using a caching technique and/or a compression technique which is capable of reducing the network load of a network connecting between data transfer devices, correspondences between data and their names are registered at the data transfer devices and the corresponding names are transferred, instead of transferring the data, for those data for which the correspondences are registered, so that it is possible to reduce the amount of transfer data among the data transfer devices. Even when the name corresponding to the data is not registered so that it is impossible to transfer the corresponding name instead of transferring the data, it is possible to reduce the amount of transfer data among the data transfer devices by transferring the compressed data in which this data is expressed in a compressed form by utilizing the name corresponding to the registered reference data.

摘要: It is an object of this invention to provide a data processing system, computer network, and data processing method which enable alternate programs to run without degrading the system processing performance. When control of a program executed by the executing means 1 reaches a pre-defined execution checkpoint, the notifying means 3 issues an interrupt instruction and the sending/receiving means 4 sends this instruction to other nodes. In a node where this interrupt instruction is received, the interrupt controlling means 5 causes the executing means 1 to interrupt processing if program control has not yet reached a pre-defined execution checkpoint in the node.
