Abstract:
A first network node in a communication network can evaluate whether to scale a first resource of a network slice of the communication network. The first network node can receive, from a second network node of the communication network, a first message indicating a request for approval to scale the first resource of the network slice. Responsive to receiving the first message, the first network node can determine whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on information regarding a second resource. The first and second resources may be of different types. The first network node can transmit, to the second network node, a second message indicating whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on determining whether to scale the first resource of the network slice. Related methods are also discussed.

Abstract:
In general, techniques are described for network connectivity for non-colocated customers of a cloud exchange. A programmable network platform for the cloud exchange comprises processing circuitry configured to: configure a virtual network device in the data center to run a network service for a customer; receive, from the customer, a request for a remote port and network information for a network service provider connectivity service for the customer; assign, in response to receiving the request for the remote port, a remote port of the cloud exchange to the customer; and configure, in response to receiving the request for the remote port using the network information, the cloud exchange to connect the network service provider connectivity service to the virtual network device via the remote port of the cloud exchange.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of paying for content, such as, for example, audio and/or video content, are presented. In an example method, a task to be executed using at least one device resource associated with a user device is provided. Also, the task is to be executed during streaming of a content item. The streaming of the content item to the user device is caused to terminate in response to a determination that the execution of the task using the at least one device resource has been terminated.

Abstract:
A method for monitoring several data compute nodes (DCNs) on a group of managed host machines is provided. The method receives service usage data from a group of managed hosts. The service usage data identifies service usage for each of a plurality of entities associated with each managed host. The method aggregates the received service usage data. The method displays the aggregated service usage data.
Abstract:
A host system reallocates resources in a virtual computing environment by first receiving a request to reallocate a first quantity of a first resource type. Next, potential trade-off groups are evaluated and a trade-off group is selected based on the evaluation. The selected trade-off group includes a set of applications running in the virtual computing environment that can use one or more alternate resource types as a substitute for the first quantity of the first resource type. After the selection, the host system reallocates the first quantity of the first resource type from the trade-off group. This reallocation may be made from the trade-off group to either a first application running in the virtual computing environment or the host system itself. If the reallocation is to the host system, then the total quantity of the first resource type allocated to applications running in the virtual computing environment is thereby reduced.
Abstract:
A mesh network (such as a mesh Ethernet network) is subdivided into rings. For each ring, a network utilization is assessed in both the clockwise and counter-clockwise directions around the ring. A user requests a particular network service. The network rings that would be utilized by the network service are determined. A maximum utilization of all the network rings utilized by the network service in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions is determined. The determined maximum utilization is used to determine the feasibility of provisioning the requested network service.
Abstract:
A method is provided of transporting data packets over a telecommunications transport network. The data packets are carried by a plurality of bearers, the bearers each carrying data packets that relate to different ones of a plurality of services. In the method, for each bearer independently of the other bearers, bandwidth profiling is applied to the data packets of the bearer to identify and mark the data packets of each of the bearers that are conformant with a determined maximum information rate for the bearer. The data packets are forwarded for transport through the transport network. If there is insufficient bandwidth available in the transport network to transport all data packets, data packets not identified by the profiling as being conformant are discarded, so as not to be transported through the transport network. The data packets of the bearer transported through the transport network are monitored to determine whether there has been any loss of data packets that should have been transported through the transport network, indicating congestion in the transport network. The maximum information rate of the bearer is adjusted based on the monitoring.
