Abstract: A cordless telephony device is disclosed which includes a base module and at least one handset module. Each of the modules includes a transmitting and a receiving circuit with scanning means for analyzing the various channels (N) in turns so as to examine whether a request for a connection has been emitted on a channel. A definition (L) of the channel used is indicated in the data of a request for a connection emitted by a transmitter. Each module includes means for searching for the channel number (L) in the received data during a scanning operation in the receive mode, and for immediately settling on the channel that carries this number (L) if this channel number L is different from that (N) of the analyzed channel.
