摘要： A demand bactericide for disinfecting water comprises a strong base anion exchange resin containing a bactericidally effective amount of triiodide for killing bacteria in water while being essentially free of water-elutable oxidizing iodine. The invention also extends to the process of preparing the demand bactericide wherein the resin-triiodide complex is washed with water until the wash water gives a negative test for oxidizing iodine, the resin preferably being a quaternary ammonium resin which is first reacted with an alkylating agent to eliminate residual amine groups.
