    Abstract: A method includes receiving a trace of a job in a distributed computing system and a topology of the system and determining performance indicators of each virtual node's (1) busyness from executing its share of local resource and network dependent tasks in the job, (2) efficiency for executing its share of the local resource tasks, and (3) efficiency for executing its share of the network dependent tasks. The method includes aggregating performance indicators of each host's virtual nodes and determining if one of the hosts is least efficient in executing its share of the local resource and the network dependent tasks. If so, the method includes determining if the one host is less busy from executing it share of the local resource and the network dependent tasks than other hosts. If not, the method includes reporting the one host's busiest virtual node as a candidate of processor error.

    Abstract: An example method to allocate a virtual disk for a virtual machine in a virtualized computing system includes allocating a plurality of virtual machine disk file (VMDK) candidates in a virtual machine file system (VMFS) volume, selecting a subset of VMDK candidates from the plurality of VMDK candidates for having performance scores indicative of higher I/O throughputs associated with the one or more physical hard disks than rest of the plurality of VMDK candidates, and configuring the virtual disk based on the subset of the VMDK candidates.     Abstract: Examples perform input/output (I/O) requests, issued by a plurality of clients to an owner-node, in a virtual storage area network (vSAN) environment. I/O requests are guaranteed, as all I/O requests are performed during non-overlapping, exclusive sessions between one client at a time and the owner node. The owner node rejects requests for simultaneous sessions, and duplicate sessions are prevented by requiring that a client refresh its memory state after termination of a previous session.

    Abstract: A method for allocating storage for a virtual machine includes receiving a request to allocate a block of disk storage on a physical disk to a virtual disk associated with the virtual machine.
