摘要: A virtual runtime module that omits an internal functional implementation of an associated executable module and that includes a runtime-resolvable public interface of the associated executable module is obtained using a processor within a module-based system. The virtual runtime module within the module-based system is resolved, using the runtime-resolvable public interface of the virtual runtime module, to satisfy dependencies associated with the executable module within the module-based system. At least a portion of the internal functional implementation of the associated executable module within the module-based system is installed during runtime using the resolved virtual runtime module.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method for improved management of virtual machine clusters may include: determining a current utilization value for each of a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) in a cluster, the VMs associated with a plurality of applications; storing the current utilization values for each of the plurality of VMs in a utilization table; determining that a capacity threshold for the cluster has not been reached based on an aggregation of the current utilization values for the plurality of VMs; provisioning a new VM into the cluster; storing a default utilization value for the new VM in the utilization table; and re-determining the capacity threshold based on the aggregated stored current utilization values for the plurality of VMs and the stored default utilization value for the new VM until a maturity threshold for the new VM is reached.

摘要: In a virtualized environment where multiple guest virtual machines receive security services from multiple security virtual machines, a guest virtual machine automatically transitions to a new virtual security machine under various conditions. For example, the guest virtual machine may select a new security virtual machine when connectivity to the current security virtual machine degrades below a predetermined threshold, or in response to a request from the current security virtual machine indicating, e.g., that the current security virtual machine is about to shut down or otherwise terminate security services to the guest virtual machine.

摘要: In certain embodiments, a Service Deployment Infrastructure (SDI) instance is disclosed. The SDI instance can intelligently allocate resources of a rack to one or more virtual machines as part of provisioning a requested service. The SDI instance can use machine-learning techniques to evaluate historical data associated with a requested service. The machine-learning techniques can be used to generate one or more models that simulate the possible configurations of sizes for virtual machines for a particular service. The one or more models can be accessed at runtime to fit virtual machines of a requested service into servers of a rack in a manner that minimizes unused resources with multi-dimensional constraints.

摘要: A cluster of computer systems, each of which is configured with a virtualization software layer to support execution of virtual computing instances, includes a first computer system in which a first virtual computing instance is executing, the first computer system including a first local storage unit in which a first log file is stored to capture write operations to a virtual disk of the first virtual computing instance. The cluster also includes a second computer system, networked to the first computer system, in which a second virtual computing instance is executing, the second computer system including a second local storage unit in which a second log file is stored to capture write operations to a virtual disk of the second virtual computing instance and in which a replica of the first log file is stored.

摘要: A journal-based process to achieve atomicity in a device driver write operation includes committing a transaction associated with the operation to a journal that include a status indicating the target block is corrupted. Subsequent to committing the transaction, the data is written to the target block. If the write operation is successfully committed, the transaction can be deleted from the journal. If a system crash occurs (e.g., power failure) before the write operation is successfully committed, the transaction remains in the journal and can be used to update block metadata associated with the target block when the system reboots to indicate that it is corrupted; e.g., the target block is a torn write.

摘要: Aspects of the disclosure provide for mechanisms for resource allocation in computer systems. A method of the disclosure may include deploying a plurality of containers on a plurality of nodes of a computer system; executing, in the plurality of containers, a benchmark workload utilizing a compute resource; obtaining a plurality of benchmarking results representing performance of the containers utilizing the compute resource; and creating, by a processing device, a resource definition in view of the plurality of benchmarking results, wherein the resource definition comprises a resource allocation unit indicative of a computing capacity of the computer system utilizing the compute resource and an association between the resource allocation unit and the compute resource.

摘要: An execution environment has a deployed virtual machine image. The virtual machine image provides a service that is identified by a role. The execution environment generates a measurement of the virtual machine image and provides it to a key service to request role keys that enable operation of the virtual machine image in the execution environment. The key service determines whether the virtual machine image is mapped to the role and, if so, returns the role keys to the requesting execution environment.

摘要: Methods, systems, and computer program products are included for de-duplicating one or more memory pages. A method includes receiving, by a hypervisor, a list of read-only memory page hints from a guest running on a virtual machine. The list of read-only memory page hints specifies a first memory page marked as writeable. The method also includes determining whether the first memory page matches a second memory page. In response to a determination that the first memory page matches the second memory page, the hypervisor may deduplicate the first and second memory pages.
