Abstract: Systems and methods for rapid IP telephony communications session setup using interactive push notifications are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method may include receiving a connection request from a first device to setup an IP telephony communications session with a second device, transmitting a request to send a push notification message including telecommunication invitation data to the second device to notify a user of the second device of the connection request, receiving a first response from the second device indicating acceptance of the connection request, sending an indication to the first device that the connection request has been accepted at the second device, receiving a second response from the second device that is used to complete the IP telephony communications session connection between the first and second devices, and connecting the second device with the first device to establish the IP telephony communications session based on the second response.
