Abstract: A VENTILATION ARRANGEMENT FOR A DYNAMOELECTRIC MACHINE HAVING A ROTOR INCLUDING SALIENT POLE MEMBERS. STRUCTURE IS PROVIDED FOR SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASING COOLING EFFICIENCY AND REDUCING WINDAGE LOOSES IN THE MACHINE, THE STRUCTURE COMPRISING MEANS FOR DIRECTING A COOLING GASEOUS FLUID AXIALLY OF THE ROTOR BETWEEN THE SALIENT POLES FROM ONE END OF THE ROTOR
TO THE OTHER, AND MEANS FOR BRIDGING THE INTERPOLAR SPACE IN ORDER TO PREVENT A VORTEX OF THE FLUID FROM DEVELOPING BETWEEN ADJACENT POLES, AND FOR OTHERWISE RESTRICTING THE CROSS-SECTIONAL AREA FOR AXIAL FLOW OF THE COOLING FLUID TO INCREASE THE AXIAL VELOCITY THEREOF.
