Abstract: A hose retractor for an appliance having one or more hoses extending from an opening in the cabinet of the appliance and normally stored by being draped inside of the cabinet characterized by a hose retracting device that facilitates retracting and storing of the hoses in the cabinet so as to prevent the draped hoses from either snagging or contacting parts and components of the appliance. The retracting device includes a rod having a hose retainer pivotally mounted on one end and being pivotally mounted at the other end on one side wall of the cabinet by means of a bracket adjacent said one side wall so that the rod and retainer move in a plane substantially parallel to the cabinet side wall to guide the hoses for movement in the parallel plane and closely adjacent to the side wall. Preferably, the connection of the end of the rod to the bracket is accomplished by utilizing an offset portion of the rod to engage the bracket and bias the retainer in sliding engagement with the side wall.

Abstract: An invertible spray arm for a dishwasher comprises two separate sets of spray nozzles, each in communication with a separate chamber in the spray arm and each providing a different spray pattern within a dishwasher. The spray arm includes a central member which may be of sheet material, which divides the spray arm into the two chambers and which, together with a supporting column, fluidically seals one chamber from the other. The spray arm includes a central aperture for receiving a manifold end of an upstanding hollow fluid carrying column and may be mounted on the manifold with either side of the spray arm up to effect fluid communication between the manifold and a desired chamber for obtaining a desired spray pattern.

Abstract: A filter or trap, especially adapted for removing lint and particulate material from wash water in automatic domestic washing machines having wash and drain cycles, comprises a selfcontained unit with a stack of centrally apertured filter disks within a housing having a lower end filtering cycle suction outlet communicating with the chamber defined within the stack by the disk apertures. Fluid to be filtered such as wash water delivered to the housing is forced to pass between the disks of the stack to the aperture chamber. To flush the filter, flushing fluid such as water is introduced through the outlet, now serving as a flushing fluid inlet, into the disk stack chamber which causes the disks to separate and be agitated and flush clear of filtered material which is carried off to drain through the inlet, now serving as a drain outlet, through which fluid to be filtered is normally delivered to the housing.
