Abstract:
A timer for a dryer includes an axially movable shaft operated by a face cam and carrying a movable gear which provides different gear ratios in a gear train between the timer motor and a camstack. The driving arrangement reduces the drive speed of the camstack so that only a small portion of the timer dial is utilized during the time in which the face cam shifts the gear train into the low speed mode of operation. Another cam mounted for mutual rotation with a gear which is ahead of the movable gear and thereby unaffected by the gear shifting operation includes a lobe which operates a contact in series with the dryer drive motor to provide intermittent operation of the motor and thus intermittent tumbling of the clothes in the rotatable drum driven by the drive motor.
Abstract:
A pressure-responsive filter indicator assembly in a domestic clothes drier responsive to changes in a pressure drop across the filter positioned in an air exhaust passage to provide a continuously visible signal that is terminated only by manual reset operation. The indicator assembly includes a lighttransmitting member and a diaphragm movable between two positions, with the light-transmitting member providing a visible signal on the control console of the drier when the diaphragm is in one position. The diaphragm is responsive to changes in the pressure drop across the filter to move to the position in which the light-transmitting rod provides a visible signal on the console.
Abstract:
A liquid dispenser in which liquid is transferred from a container as by capillary action to a retaining member such as a spongy mass and then expressing means selectively compressing the retaining member at the desired time to force expressed liquid therefrom and conveying means such as a trough structure for conveying the expressed liquid away from the retaining member and the container.
Abstract:
A dishwasher dishrack for holding articles during the washing operation which is of open construction to receive upwardly projected sprays of washing liquid in which the dishrack comprises an article-holding basket and a pivotally mounted retainer therein having spaced-apart sides and a crossbar connecting these sides at their outer ends, the crossbar comprising a succession of recessed sections such as successive scallops so that the retainer under the force of gravity acting thereon embraces inverted stemware in the basket to hold the stemware against the force of the upward projected liquid to prevent breakage and also to rest on top of articles such as plastic cups, glasses and the like to prevent their being displaced by the force of the upwardly projected liquid.
Abstract:
A pressure-responsive switch assembly of the type used, for example, as a liquid level control in washing machines, including a slide means which is operable to automatically reset the diaphragm of the pressure-responsive switch when an adjustment is to be made of the operating point of the switch by advancing to a higher setting.
