Abstract:
Interchangeable sets of printing plate clamping devices for the plate cylinder of letterpress printing machines are provided, one set for clamping lead-backed electrotype plates on the plate cylinder and another set, interchangeable with the first set, for independently clamping plate saddles on the cylinder and thin wraparound printing plates under spring pressure on the saddles. Provision is made for independently clamping two printing plates which are positioned side by side on the plate cylinder.
Abstract:
A plate cylinder of a printing machine has two separate fastening devices for thin flexible printing plates for various page sizes. One of the fastening devices is constructed for adjusting of both the circumferential and the lateral register of plates for various page arrangements in such a manner that the registering fastening device has a shaft comprises several individual parts which can be coupled and uncoupled for various page combinations whereby the shaft portions can be separately adjusted for circumferential and lateral register.
Abstract:
A mechanism for loading and unloading the design cylinder in a rotogravure press unit including support bearings mounted in a pivotally supported housing in the side frames of the unit so as to be self aligning with the shaft of the design cylinder for freely supporting therebetween the design cylinder. A pair of supporting members having bifurcated heads for cradling therebetween the design cylinder, are pivotally secured to a pair of cranks mounted for pivotal movement adjacent the inside surfaces of the side frames. Pivotal movement of the support arms and cranks is controlled by a mechanism for pivoting the support arms away from the press unit thereby lifting the design cylinder off its bearing and swinging it away from the press.
Abstract:
A newspaper-printing machine folder has two pairs of nipping rollers and one pair of folding rolls. The rollers of each pair are held against one another under the pressure force of a spring or the like elastic means. The setting of the position of the rollers is adjustable according to the thickness of the product to be folded. Additional pressure force balancing devices are provided on the rollers. Sensing elements are arranged for detecting of differences of the roller pressure, controlling the motive power-operated adjusting devices for resetting the roller position to the originally set force.
Abstract:
An ink fountain for a rotogravure press which is pivotally mounted and can be tilted down away from the printing cylinder for cleaning the fountain pan or changing the cylinder. A cover system for enclosing the cylinder when the pan is in its operative position and which will automatically cam off or lift away from the cylinder as the pan is lowered away from it. The cover system is hinged to the pan and can be swung away from the pan so as to uncover the pan and cylinder for easy cleaning and replacement.
Abstract:
A CLAMPING DEVICE FOR FASTENING A FLEXIBLE PRINTING PLATE ON A PLATE CYLINDER OF A PRINTING MACHINE AS ARRANGED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE PLATES AR AS SECURELY CLAMPED AND CIRCUMFERENTIALLY REGISTERED FOR OPERATION OF THE PRINTING CYLINDER IN BOTH THE CLOCKWISE AND COUNTERCLOCKWISE DIRECTIONS.
