Abstract: Geometrical structures having alternate asymmetrical folds of drawable or extensible material forming two faces wherein the folds on each of the faces are substantially identical to the other folds on that face. The fold on one of the faces have a rounded profile in cross section which is somewhat wider than the profile on the other face of the structure. The structure may be produced by the rectilinear pleating of a flat sheet or of a longitudinally corrugated sheet or by the chevron pleating of a flat sheet. Such structures may be used as sandwich core materials, filtering screens, cylindrical insulating materials and filtering cartridges, by way of example.
