摘要: The invention relates to a system and process for producing liquid hydrocarbons from a calcium carbonate feed-stock involving (i) liberation of a carbon dioxide gas from the heated calcium carbonate feedstock; (ii) filtering impurities from the extracted carbon dioxide of step (i); (iii) reacting the extracted carbon dioxide obtained in step (i) with a dihydrogen gas to form a methanol feedstock; (iv) isolating the cooled methanol feedstock formed in step (iii); (v) catalytically converting at least part of the methanol feedstock obtained in step (iii) at elevated temperature and pressure into aliphatic and aromatic liquid hydrocarbons; and (vi) isolating the decompressed liquid hydrocarbon product obtained in step (v).

摘要: A digital ultrasonic extensometer for measuring the stress in a tensile load member, such as a bolt under load, the extensometer including a transducer permanently or temporarily in contact with the load member being measured, an intelligent processing means controlled time interval measuring means which generate a number of signals for energizing the transducer, the transducer, in turn, receiving the return pulse from the far end of the member under test and converting it into an electrical signal which is amplified and provided to the digital circuitry; the time interval measuring means then measure the number of clock pulses and portions of clock pulses during the period of time from the pulser signal to the receipt of the signal return from the end of the test member, provide a plurality of such pulse groups to the intelligent processing means, which enhance the accuracy of measurement by computational averaging computing, and indicate on a digital display and on an included paper printer, the computed indication of stress, length, elongation, temperature, and test member identifying information, such parameters being stored in the intelligent processing means having been either manually provided or internally determined as applicable.

摘要: Apparatus (10) for measuring and controlling the tensile load on a fastener (F). The fastener is positioned to connect together two or more components (X) of a workpiece. A drive unit (12) couples to the fastener to thread it into place. The fastener exerts a clamping force on the components to connect them together. The clamping force created by the fastener produces an equal and opposite tensile force on the fastener. A controller (16) starts and stops operation of the drive unit. The controller controls the drive unit to thread the fastener into place until it exerts a predetermined amount of clamping force on the components. A test unit (18) generates ultrasonic waves and transmits them lengthwise through the fastener. The transit time of the waves through the fastener is then measured. The transit time of the waves is a function of the tensile force on the fastener and, in turn, a function of the clamping force exerted by the fastener.
