摘要： A support for the lower ends of elongated articles stored in an upright position, such as the lower ends of firearms contained within a storage cabinet. The support includes a base, and one or more support members are releasably engageable with the base. Each support member receives and secures the lower end of a firearm relative to the base. Each support member is releasably engaged with the base via one or more releasable fasteners that extend through openings in the base and the support member. The base may include a series of slots, within which the fasteners are movable to adjust the position of the support members on the base. The one or more support members may be a single support member that supports the lower end of each firearm, and a series of support members are mounted along the length of the base to support the lower end of a series of articles. Alternatively, the one or more support members may be a pair of support members that cooperate to define the upwardly facing recess within which the lower end of the firearm is received, and which may be moved together and apart in the slots to accommodate differently dimensioned firearms.

A corresponding signal may also be provided to the vehicle guide arrangement so that the vehicle is not navigated along an aisle until the aisle is fully open. This ensures that the vehicle has the space needed to maneuver during the loading and unloading process.

The roller and guide system includes a longitudinally extending axial guide defining a first slot in a floor and a drive rail parallel thereto defining a second slot in the floor. The axial guide includes a roller arrangement adapted to engage a downwardly extending guide member coupled to the carriage of the storage units. The engagement of the roller arrangement and guide member serves as a guide for the storage units as the storage units are moved axially along the axial guide and drive rail. Further, the present invention limits the width of the first and second slots to a very narrow width, e.g. less than one half inch, thereby easily permitting disabled individuals to freely travel across a floor in which the roller and guide system is mounted. The roller and guide system may include an anti-tip assembly to prevent the tipping of the storage units as the storage units are moved along the axial guide and drive rail.
