摘要:
A method for recovering precious metals from ore is disclosed. Ore is treated in an acidic slurry with an activated oxygen mixture obtained from an ultraviolet light ozone generator. The activated oxygen frees chemically bonded precious metals creating an expanded, hydrated ore so that the metals may be oxidized and leached out using standard leaching techniques. In addition, the activated oxygen aids in the leaching process. Substantial increases in the amount of precious metal recovered from a given amount of ore result.

An air abatement system that includes a pre-treatment system and an air treatment system for abatement of contaminated air that includes pollutants such as V.O.C.s, NOx, and/or CO. The air stream is treated using activated air, activated water, and ultraviolet light under conditions that produce hyroxyls, peroxides, and other oxidants without the formation of ozone. These oxidants are also utilized in the activated air, with the activated water being formed as an aqueous solution of the activated air. The pre-treatment system includes a quenching zone where activated water is misted into the air stream, followed by alternating reaction zones and depletion zones where activated air is added and then turbulently mixed with the air stream. The air treatment system includes a primary treatment tunnel, carbon bed system, activated air generator, and a sparger tank farm. Activated air produced by the generator as added into water while being exposed to ultraviolet light in the sparger tank farm. Then, as the contaminated air stream moves through various sequential chambers within the tunnel, it is subjected to the misted activated water, while being simultaneously exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Air exiting the tunnel is then further treated in the carbon bed system.

A water treatment method and apparatus is described for generating a supply of activated water containing oxidants, including hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide, and hydroperoxy radicals, but excluding ozone. The apparatus includes a generator having ultraviolet lamps to which air is exposed to create activated air. To suppress the generation of ozone in the activated air, the air subjected to the ultraviolet lamps is maintained at a relative high humidity. Also, the activated air is generated in the presence of a catalyst and using 254 nm light, both of which are believed to aid in the destruction of any ozone generated by the exposure of the air to other wavelengths of the uv light. The catalyst also provides additional oxidants in the air. The activated air is entrained in the water using an injector to thereby produce the activated water. A mixer can be used to subject the activated water coming from the injector to turbulent flow conditions to thereby further break up the activated air within the water. In one specific application, the activated water is utilized as a part of a method and apparatus for washing laundry. The laundry is agitated in wash water made up from the activated water. The wash water can be continuously recirculated from the chamber containing the wash water and laundry, through the injector where additional activated air is added, then through the mixer, and thereafter back into the chamber.
