Abstract: A fixation identification system includes an eye-tracking device and a fixation identification device disposed in electrical communication with the eye-tracking device. The fixation identification device includes a controller having a memory and a processor, the controller being configured to identify each gaze position data element received from the eye-tracking device as one of fixation gaze position data and saccade gaze position data, each gaze position data element corresponding to a visual location associated with a field of view at a corresponding time; identify at least one fixation region associated with the fixation gaze position data; adjust a number of fixation gaze position data elements associated with the at least one fixation region; and generate a density optimized fixation region based upon the adjusted number of fixation gaze position data elements.

Abstract: In a text simplification system, a method for replacing text in a field of view of a user, comprises receiving eye movement data from an eye-tracking device, the eye movement data relating to text provided in a field of view of a user and detecting a cognitive load associated with the eye movement and corresponding to a visual location of the field of view of the user. Abstract: A recommendation for purchase or selection of a package of food to a consumer, such as a retail of wholesale purchaser of the food package, or a direct or indirect consumer of the food contained in the food package is generated by selecting at least one nutritional value from a food package label by optical character recognition of a representation of the selected nutritional value as it is presented on the package of food. The at least one selected nutritional value is compared to at least one recommended nutritional value corresponding to the selected nutritional value to form at least one comparison value. The comparison value is employed to generate a recommendation that is displayed to the consumer, such as by superimposing the recommendation over an image on a display screen of the food package label as an augmented reality, or in real time, meaning that the recommendation appears simultaneously with the optical character recognition of the nutritional value, wherein the recommendation is displayed with, or is superimposed on an image on the display screen of the representation of the nutritional value, thereby making a recommendation of the food package to the consumer.
