A method for determining a pore characteristic of a substance includes the following steps: subjecting the substance to a substantially uniform static magnetic field; applying a magnetic pulse sequence to the substance, the pulse sequence being selected to produce nuclear magnetic resonance signals that are responsive to internal magnetic field inhomogeneities in the pore structure of the substance, and detecting, as measurement signals, nuclear magnetic resonance signals from the substance; applying a reference magnetic pulse sequence to the substance, the reference pulse sequence being selected to produce nuclear magnetic resonance signals that are substantially unresponsive to internal magnetic field inhomogeneities in the pore structure of the substance, and detecting, as reference measurement signals, nuclear magnetic resonance signals from the substance; and determining a pore characteristic of the substance from the measurement signals and the reference measurement signals.

A technique is provided for determining a nuclear magnetic resonance characteristic of formations surrounding an earth borehole, including the following steps: providing a logging device that is moveable through the borehole; providing, on the logging device, first and second coils having respective axes that are generally orthogonal; producing, at the logging device, a prepolarizing signal; applying pulse sequence signals to the first and second coils, the pulse sequence signals implementing repeated refocusing of spins in the formations by both adiabatic and non-adiabatic reorienting of the spins to form spin echoes; and detecting, at the logging device, the spin echoes from the formations, the spin echoes being indicative of the nuclear magnetic resonance characteristic of the formations.

A device compensating limits of humans senses, includes a receiver receiving information in a first sense, a converter converting the received information into information in a second sense and a presenter that presents the converted information. In an embodiment, the first sense is the vision and the receiver receives visual information comprising texts, wherein the second sense is auditory sense or tactile sensation, and the receiver comprises an ingestion layer that ingests information from a target object. In another embodiment, the receiver ingests the full audio or visual sensory stimuli, and takes the portion that is blocked for the sensory deprivation of the user, and the converter extracts environmental cues contained therein by applying machine intelligence logic and makes trans-sensory conversion to their synthetic representation.

The present invention recited a method and apparatus for providing a parameter of a fluid within a fluid channel using a MEMS resonating element in contact with the fluid moving through the fluid channel. Additionally an actuating device associated with the MEMS resonating element is further provided, such that the actuating device can induce motion in the MEMS resonating element. In communication with the MEMS resonating element is an interpretation element capable of calculating a parameter of the fluid moving through the fluid channel based upon data from the MEMS resonating element upon actuation by the actuating device.
