A sample gas is introduced into a collecting pipe filled with a collecting agent to collect odor components therein, and a gas, such as nitrogen gas, is introduced into the collecting pipe to remove moisture and so on. Then, a heater is heated to raise a temperature of the collecting pipe so that a part of the odor components adsorbed by the collecting agent is separated therefrom, and then, a carrier gas is supplied to the collecting pipe to send the separated odor components to a sensor. After a predetermined time has passed, the heater is further heated to send the separated odor components to the sensor. The heater may be further increased. Thus, an output information of the gas sensor in one cycle of measurement can be increased.

The present invention proposes an odor measuring apparatus capable of determining the similarity of the odor of an unknown sample with high objectivity and performing measurements with sensitivity similar to that of the human nose. According to a mode of the invention, an m-dimensional space is created from detection signals of m pieces of odor sensors, and a standard odor vector S1 representing the result of measurement of a standard odor and another vector Sx representing the result of measurement of an unknown sample are drawn in the space. Then, from the angle &thgr; between the two vectors, a degree of similarity is determined within the range from 0 to 100%, where the degree of similarity is corrected taking account of the difference in sensitivity between the odor sensor and the human nose. The degree of similarity of the unknown odor is calculated for each of plural standard odors measured beforehand, and which standard odor is the closest to the odor of the unknown sample is objectively shown by numeral values.

A method for testing causative bacterial species of food poisoning which is characterized by using two oligonucleotide primers that hybridize to opposite strands of bacterial DNA specifically, and flank a unique region in the target DNA and amplifying the specific fragment of the bacterial DNA, comprising the steps of:(a) hybridizing the primer to specific gene sequence of bacteria in a sample, extending the hybridized primer with deoxynucleotide triphosphates (dATP, dCTP, dGTP, and dTTP), and resultantly making the double strand nucleotide;(b) where the primer extension products are cleaved into each single strand of nucleotide by certain external force such as heat, pH and so on, one single strand functioning as a template for nucleotide extension with a primer of the other strand;(c) repeating a series of cycles involving cleavage of primer extension products, primer hybridizing, extension of the hybridized primers to amplify the specific fragment of DNA, and detecting the amplified DNA fragment; and(d) as the result, determining whether or not the specific fragment is present in said sample, thereby to confirm a species of causative bacteria of food poisoning.

In a method of manufacturing moldings and an apparatus therefore, a ridge piece 20 protrudes from a molding main body 10 of a molding 1 in a lip manner is removed gradually from a leading end side to a root side by a lip removing piece 33 moving together with a second die 32 which changes the extrusion contour of the molding main body 10, then the ridge piece 20 is removed by the movement of the second die 32 without decreasing the thickness of the ridge piece 20 thinning. Accordingly, the ridge piece 20 can be removed effectively by the simple operation and apparatus without requiring the operation such as the after-treatment, which can result in the improvements of the productivity of the molding 1, the appearance of the molding 1, and the reliability.
