摘要: A pain measurement system is capable of accurately and reliably measuring the magnitude of temporary pain in a patient while reducing burdens on the patient during pain measurement. The pain measurement system has a system assembly including a controller that controls an electric stimulus signal output unit to apply a pulse current which increases with time through an electrode. The value of the pulse current is recognized as a minimum sensed current value when a first signal is received. The electric stimulus signal output unit is then controlled to apply, through the electrode, a pulse current having a current value which increases from a predetermined initial value stepwise by nX (where X represents the minimum sensed current value and n represents a positive rational number). The current value of the pulse current is recognized as a pain-commensurate current value when a second signal is received.

摘要: In an electronic blood pressure measurement device which is arranged to extract pulse waves from the measured cuff pressure, a pulse wave pattern is generated from the pulse wave amplitude and pulse wave interval data and this pulse wave pattern is compared with reference patterns to classify the pattern in order to accurately obtain biological information other than the blood pressure. Blood pressure amplitudes PA(i) are computed from the measured cuff pressures C(i) and a pulse wave pattern is generated (35) on the basis of this pulse wave amplitude data and this pulse wave pattern is classified into a plurality of reference patterns (37) according to reference patterns or reference values (36). Here, the reference patterns or reference values are set as hemodynamic references based on dynamic characteristics of the blood vessel or cardiac output characteristics. The pulse wave pattern is normalized as necessary to extract only the shape factors of the pattern, is displayed as a measured pattern corresponding to a reference pattern and is compared with the reference patterns in terms of shape. Also, besides the shape factors, the absolute values of pulse wave amplitudes and systolic pressures are used as references for pattern classification.

摘要: A system for measuring the volume of a part of a human body such as an arm, for diagnostic purposes, is disclosed measuring instrument comprises an outer tube and an inner tube made of flexible material. Both ends of the inner tube are secured to an inside wall of the outer tube so as to form a watertight chamber between the outer tube and the inner tube. Electrodes are provided upon the inside wall of the outer tube, and the watertight chamber is filled with electrolyte. Electric current is passed from one of a pair of electrodes to another electrode through the electrolyte. Voltage across another pair of electrodes is measured so as to measure changes in impedance, thereby detecting changes in the volume of the body part.

摘要: Disclosed is a pain measurement system and method that make possible the quantitative measurement of human clinical pain. The perception of the pain generated by the subject's source of preexisting pain is compared with a pseudo pain feeling which is produced by a gradual change in an electric stimulus generated by the system. This device measures the point at which the subject's perception of actual pain approximates the intensity of the pseudo pain feeling generated by the system. In this way the magnitude of the source of pain [x] is estimated quantitatively. The minimum perception level of a subject is also determined and a ratio of current level for actual pain to current level for minimum perception level is taken to quantify the pain.
