摘要： A header compression in a broadband wireless communication system is provided. A transmitter includes a compressor for compressing a header of a packet; a processor for appending a compression channel IDentifier (ID) to the packet; and a controller for identifying a Service Flow (SF) corresponding to the compression channel ID and processing the packet according to the SF. Accordingly, by using the ID of the compression channel in the header compression, the SF can be identified even in the header compression.

摘要： Streaming multimedia content from a content server to client, user multimedia devices (UMDs) connected to the content server through a network includes the steps of monitoring storage states, of UMDs connected to the network, for preset multimedia content, and automatically transmitting a starting block of the content to any UMD not yet storing the block. Tasks preparatory to streaming are advantageously off-loaded to the client side and distributed among UMDs, to realize reduced bandwidth and delay and to conserve on storage capacity of a UMD.

摘要： A method and apparatus for performing fast authentication for a vertical handover are provided. The method includes requesting a handover from a serving network to a target network and generating a derivative Master Session Key (MSK) for key generation, and transmitting the derivative MSK to the target network. Accordingly, a key negotiation process can start by skipping an access authentication process. Therefore, there is an advantage in that a fast authentication process can be achieved.
