Abstract:
Provided is a method and apparatus for cell re-selection in a dual mode terminal supporting GSM and WCDMA. The method includes measuring a cell re-selection parameter for a WCDMA cell and a GSM cell when attempting a cell re-selection from the GSM cell to the WCDMA cell; determining an additional weight value for cell re-selection; and comparing the determined additional weight value and a cell re-selection threshold value and a weight value received from a network with the cell re-selection parameter.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus and method for preventing successive failures in a call connection in a mobile communication terminal. When a call connection is attempted, a cell with the highest RX power is selected among cells and an RRC Connection Request message is transmitted from the mobile terminal to a BS of the selected cell. It is determined whether the mobile terminal receives an RRC Connection Accept/Reject message from the BS. If the mobile terminal receives an RRC Connection Reject message from the BS of the selected cell, it is determined whether the selected cell is able to perform the RRC connection by detecting a Connection Reject message frequency that is the number of times of rejection of an RRC connection request for a predetermined period. If the selected cell is not able to perform the RRC connection, a neighboring cell is reselected and an RRC Connection Request message is transmitted to the reselected neighboring cell.
Abstract:
A method of determining cell reselection in a mobile communication terminal and an apparatus therefor are provided. The method includes receiving system information to calculate a threshold value in consideration of channel quality, a cell reselection weight value, and a cell reselection reference value; and determining whether to perform cell reselection using the threshold value in consideration of the channel quality, the cell reselection weight value, and the cell reselection reference value in a specific wireless environment.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus and method for scanning a frequency in a mobile terminal. The apparatus includes a frequency scanner that detects an available frequency in such a manner that a Last-used frequency Band (LB) in which a last frequency used is included is first scanned when a frequency-scanning event is generated and thereafter the LB is periodically re-scanned while the entire frequency bands are scanned.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for managing neighbor cells of a mobile communication terminal is provided. In the method, when a neighbor cell list is received from a network, neighbor cells are scanned to select a number of neighbor cells having high received signal strength indicator (RSSI) levels. The selected neighbor cells are managed in a BA list. The BA list is divided into a number of groups according to the RSSI levels. Different minimum signal strengths are applied to the respective groups, and it is determined whether there are neighbor cells that do not satisfy the minimum signal strengths. When the neighbor cells that do not satisfy the minimum signal strengths, the corresponding neighbor cells are deleted from the BA list.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for detecting imbalances between an I-channel signal and a Q-channel signal in order to suppress a spurious signal in a direct conversion digital quadrature transmission system is disclosed. The apparatus includes: a compensation signal generating unit for generating a first and a second compensation signals based on a digital I-channel and a digital Q-channel signals; a baseband signal generating unit for generating an I-channel and a Q-channel baseband signals by converting a radio frequency signal into a low frequency signal; and a detecting unit for detecting a phase imbalance and an amplitude imbalance between the digital I-channel and the digital Q-channel signals by using a correlation between the first and the second compensation signals with the I-channel and the Q-channel baseband signals.

Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus and method for performing a video call connection in a mobile terminal with a video call function. The method includes receiving a video call connection request message from the mobile terminal and detecting the phone number of a called party for a video call from the received video call connection request message, determining whether the called party is a video call service subscriber, and, if the called party is not a video call service subscriber, transmitting to the mobile terminal a message indicating that the called party is not a video call service subscriber. The cause of the video call connection failure is subdivided and information of the precise failure cause is provided to the mobile terminal. Accordingly, a user of the mobile terminal can know the precise cause of the video call connection failure.
