摘要： An optical-fiber connection apparatus and method for connection of an optical-fiber cable having a plurality of optical fibers to a transmit/receive unit having a plurality of interface transceivers. Some embodiments include a housing having a base portion and a latch actuator, an optical-fiber cable connection that holds the optical-fiber cable to the housing, a plurality of optical-fiber termination interfaces coupled to the housing, and a lever mechanism that is coupled to the base portion and to the latch actuator, and that moves the latch actuator relative to the base portion, wherein the lever mechanism operates to latch the optical-fiber connection apparatus to the transmit/receive unit such that the plurality of the optical-fiber termination interfaces couples light signals between the plurality of optical fibers and the plurality of interface transceivers of the transmit/receive unit.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention include apparatuses which may enable a simpler and/or more reliable connection or release of fiber optic connectors in multifiber optic receptacle environments. In one embodiment, a plug-pack assembly (1) according to the present invention includes a housing (45) and a plurality of sleds (25) adapted to accept a plurality of fiber optic connectors (30). Such an assembly can be handled as a single component, and may provide a user with an increased level of handling ability. Additional embodiment of assemblies according to the present invention can allow a user to disengage fiber optic connectors without affecting connectivity of nearby connectors.

The tool may be a hand-held tool, or used in conjunction with a connector support structure to provide simplified and expeditious field termination of fiber optic cables. The cam tool can include a throughbore that enables connection of a patchcord to the stub fiber of the connector during or shortly after termination without removal of the termination tool. Accordingly, field testing of the connection can be made at the site of termination.
