Abstract: A computing device includes: a wireless communication interface; and a processor configured to: establish a connection with a wireless network; while a network-layer status of the connection is active, monitor attributes of the connection at the wireless communication interface, the attributes including (i) a number of uplink packets transmitted since a most recent downlink packet was received, and (ii) a time period elapsed since the most recent downlink packet was received; determine that the attributes meet recovery criteria indicative of a network-layer interruption in the wireless network; in response to the determination, control the wireless communication interface to initiate a recovery action to resolve the network-layer interruption.

Abstract: A method in a computing device includes: monitoring, via a communications interface of the computing device, wireless data elements including application data corresponding to a communications application, and non-application data; automatically generating labels based on the application data of the wireless data elements, the labels indicating performance impacts observable in the communications application; selecting a portion of the wireless data elements corresponding to the non-application data; extracting, from each wireless data element of the non-application data, a set of feature values; generating a plurality of samples from the non-application data, each sample including (i) a number of the sets of feature values based on a sample size, and (ii) one of the automatically generated labels; training a classifier based on the plurality of samples, the classifier configured to receive further non-application data and generate a predicted impact indicator selected from the labels; and deploying the classifier.

Abstract: An example computing device includes: a wireless communications interface configured to connect to a network deployed by a plurality of access points; a controller for the wireless communications interface, the controller configured to, during an ongoing packet exchange with a peer computing device: detect a target pause operation for the computing device to pause a connection to a home access point; in response to the pause condition, obtain a connection status of the peer computing device; determine a priority order of the computing device and the peer computing device based on the connection status and the target pause operation; and pause the connection to the home access point according to the determined priority order.

Abstract: Systems and method for wireless roaming include operating, via a wireless communication device, a first communication link between the wireless communication device and a first access point using a first media access control (MAC) layer of the wireless communication device; initiating, using a second MAC layer of the wireless communication device, a roaming handover with a second access point while the first communication link remains configured for transmitting and receiving application and/or IP layer communication packets; ceasing transmission and reception of the application and/or IP layer communication packets via the first communication link after the roaming handover has been initiated; and resuming transmission and reception of the application and/or IP layer communication packets with a second communication link between the wireless communication device and the second access point upon completion of the roaming handover.

Abstract: A system for monitoring wireless communications in a client device includes a wireless communications interface, including: an analyzer; a monitoring controller coupled to the analyzer; an operational controller of the client device coupled to the wireless communications interface, the operational controller configured to: control the wireless communications interface to establish a wireless connection with an access point according to a set of connection parameters including a channel identifier; and transmit the set of connection parameters to the monitoring controller; the monitoring controller configured, responsive to receiving the connection parameters from the operational controller, to: monitor a channel corresponding to the channel identifier to obtain a plurality of frames transmitted over the channel; and provide the plurality of frames to the analyzer.
