A WBS design managing means in project management, comprising: a WBS tree-like architecture designing means for implementing graphical tree-like design of the work items included in a project and their relations, and mapping them into an enhanced WBS data structure; a WBS attribute editing means for defining and editing attributes of work items at each node of the tree-like architecture; and a WBS data managing means for storing and managing data constructed in accordance with said enhanced WBS data structure. The WBS design managing means may connect to a converter for converting said constructed data into the format required by a project management tool so as to input said structured data to the project management tool. Besides, there is provided an enhanced WBS design tool. The present invention makes the system design tool and project management tool be integrated, so that the system architect and the project management personal have more fluent channel for information exchange under the support of the present invention's tool, improving efficiency and accuracy of project management.

The invention provides method and apparatus for locating data in a data file and for transforming the data. The method comprises the steps: determining the data unit to be located in the data file; determining a type for the data unit, the type including “Text”, “SingleLine”, “MultiLine”, “Block” and “Iterator”; when the type of the data unit is not “Text”, selecting a different data unit as the location reference for the data unit; generating the location description for the data unit, based on the type of the data unit and the position relationship between the data unit and the different data unit, the description including the type of the data unit, one or more location elements for locating the data unit and including “Top”, “Bottom”, “Left” and “Right”, each of the location elements including a combination of attributes so as to determine the position of the location element. The present invention discloses a method of generating a document, the method including the steps of: recording information of operating an information technology system; putting the information into a document model; and generating the document by mapping the information in the document model. The present invention further discloses a system of generating a document. According to the present invention, the producer of user manual needs to operate an IT system once only, then the user manual of the IT system will be automatically generated. Thus, the producer of the user manual does not have to do repetitive and tedious work any longer, and a large amount of producing time is saved accordingly. Moreover, the style of the user manual can be defined by the producer. According to the present invention, user manuals in different language versions can be easily generated. The generated user manual has a standard format.
