摘要: An anchor assembly, for securing a first portion and a second portion of a separated sternum, can include a lock, an anchor, and a cerclage. The anchor can include a body locatable between the first portion and the second portion of the sternum, where the body can define an end portion. The anchor can include a collar connected to the body and extending outward from the end portion of the body. The collar can engage an outer surface of the sternum to limit movement of the body beyond the outer surface of the sternum. The cerclage can be connected to and can extend from the anchor. The cerclage can be configured to at least partially surround the first portion and the second portion of the separated sternum.

摘要: A method of inserting an electrode into a cranial cavity of a cranium can include determining a length, between a target within the cranial cavity and a proximal end of a multipiece cannula, of the electrode for insertion of the electrode to the target. A distal end of the electrode can be inserted through a multipiece cannula supported by an instrument holder of a surgical arm. The surgical arm can be positioned such that a distance from the target to the proximal end of the cannula is equal to the length. The electrode can be fed through the cannula and through the anchor bolt into the cranial cavity. Feeding of the electrode through the cannula and into the cranial cavity can be stopped when the length of the electrode fed into the cavity reaches the length between the proximal opening of the multipiece cannula and the target.

摘要: To replace costal cartilage that has been surgically removed, a surgeon can implant a flexible element to connect a rib to the sternum. In some examples, the flexible element can be formed from a material having a selected durometer (e.g., a measure of material stiffness or hardness), and can be shaped to have a selected geometry (e.g., cross-sectional size and shape), to match the flexibility (e.g. resistance to bending) of the natural costal cartilage. The flexible element can connect to the rib via a rib bracket, which can be rigid, and can attach to a sternal end of the rib via one or more fasteners. The flexible element can connect to the sternum via a sternum bracket, which can also be rigid, and can also attach to the sternum via one or more fasteners. The fasteners can be screws, nails, staples, or others.

摘要: A method of replacing a portion of a cranium with a hard tissue implant can include resecting a first portion of the cranium to define a first margin region. The first portion of the cranium can be analyzed to determine if the first margin region is free of cancerous cells. A second portion of the cranium can be resected to define a second margin region that is larger than the first margin region when the first margin region is not free of cancerous cells. An outer implant can be secured to the cranium at the second margin region. An inner implant can be secured to the outer implant.
