Abstract:
Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to an auxiliary optical device having one or more optical components, such as lenses, attached to a retainer portion. The retainer portion is configured to removably attach to mobile electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablet computers, media players, and the like. The retainer portion may include a movable mounting portion that achieves or maintains a substantially parallel orientation with respect to a face of a mobile electronic device even when a sidewall of the retainer portion is not parallel with respect to the face. An optical component may be mounted to the mounting portion, and movement of the mounting portion can facilitate a parallel orientation of the optical axis of the optical component with respect to an optical axis of an onboard camera of the mobile device.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, an auxiliary optical device for a mobile electronic device has a mounting component that is configured to be selectively attachable and detachable from the mobile electronic device. The mounting component is configured to be coupled to and decoupled from a mobile electronic device using an anchor that is inserted into a port of the mobile electronic device. In some embodiments, the auxiliary optical device attaches to the mobile electronic device by clamping or otherwise contracting or squeezing upon a portion of the mobile electronic device. In further embodiments, the auxiliary optical device is configured to be attached to wearable devices, such as eyewear that includes an onboard camera lens.
Abstract:
Removably-attachable cases for mobile electronic devices are provided. A removably-attachable case may include an attachment region to which accessories can be attached for use with the mobile electronic device onto which the case has been installed. The accessories may include illumination components (e.g., flashes for flash photography), recording components (e.g., microphones), support components (e.g., tripods, handles), other accessories, accessory mounting components, some combination thereof, etc. A removably attachable case may also or alternatively include an access region configured to provide access to a component of a mobile electronic device onto which the case is removably attached.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, an auxiliary optical system comprises an adapter that is either separable from or unitary with a retainer. The adapter permits the retainer to removably attach to a plurality of mobile electronic devices of different sizes. In some embodiments, an auxiliary optical system comprises a mounting component configured to removably attach to a mobile electronic device and to a base which includes a plurality of attachable subcomponent securement members. Each securement member is configured to receive at least one optical element. In some embodiments, an auxiliary optical system comprises a retainer component configured to removably receive an optical element and to removably receive a non-optical component and/or an electronic component.

Abstract:
An auxiliary optical system can be configured to be removably attachable to a mobile electronic device within a protective case. The auxiliary optical system can be shaped and sized to fit onto and/or into a region of a protective case such that the auxiliary optical device is in optical communication with one or more onboard cameras on the front and/or rear surface of the mobile electronic device and such that the auxiliary optical system resists sliding, tilting, or otherwise moving with respect to the mobile electronic device and/or the protective case.
Abstract:
A multi-lens system can be configured to be selectively attachable to a mobile electronic device having a user-facing onboard camera lens and an outward-facing onboard camera lens. The multi-lens system can attach to the mobile electronic device in at least a first position and a second position. The first lens component in the first position is configured to be in optical alignment with the user-facing onboard camera lens and simultaneously the second lens component is configured to be in optical alignment with the outward-facing onboard camera lens. The first lens component in the second position is configured to be in optical alignment with the outward-facing onboard camera lens and simultaneously the second lens component is configured to be in optical alignment with the user-facing onboard camera lens. A portable attachment accessory can be configured to be selectively attachable to a lens system that is configured to receive a portion of a mobile electronic device.
