Abstract: An accessory management system includes a housing that mates with a handheld electronic device. A plug head electrically connects the housing to the handheld electronic device, and at least one charging station to charge at least one accessory item. The accessory item is independent from the housing and removably and magnetically attaches to the housing. At least one accessory station connects at least one interchangeable modular accessory, which is distinct from the accessory item, to the handheld electronic device. The accessory station electrically connects the interchangeable modular accessory to the handheld electronic device via the housing. A power source of the handheld electronic device powers the accessory item or interchangeable modular accessory. At least one port on the housing transfers data or power from an external source to or from at least one of the following: the housing, the handheld electronic device, the interchangeable modular accessory, and the accessory item.

Abstract: An accessory management system includes a first part which mates with a handheld electronic device. The first part includes a port to electrically connect an external device to the first part, a circuit board, a connector, and an accessory station configured to removably connect to an accessory item. The accessory station includes electrical contacts. The connector is configured to electronically or electrically connect to a port of the handheld electronic device and configured to transmit at least one of data and power between at least two of the following: the accessory management apparatus, the handheld electronic device, and the accessory item. The accessory item is independent from the first part and removably attaches to the first part. The electrical contacts are mounted proximate to the accessory item. The electrical contacts electrically connect the accessory item to either the first part or the handheld electronic device to transfer charging power.

The electronic logic board includes a coil configured to wirelessly provide or accept power to and from the handheld electronic device. A software installed on the electronic logic board is configured to control a power transfer between at least two of the following: the accessory item, the accessory station, the housing, and the handheld electronic device. The housing includes a magnetic material configured to removably attach to a corresponding magnetic material of the handheld electronic device.
