Abstract: An antenna for a hearing instrument is connected to a first feedline segment extending laterally along an inner posterior surface of a shell of the hearing instrument. The antenna is also connected to a second feedline segment extending laterally along the inner posterior surface of the shell. The antenna comprises a first arm connected to the first feedline segment. The first arm initially extends in an inferior direction along the inner posterior surface of the shell from the first feedline segment. A second arm is connected to the second feedline segment and initially extends in a superior direction along the inner lateral surface of the shell from the second feedline segment.

Abstract: A conversation detector processes microphone signals and other sensor signals of a headphone to declare a conversation and configures a filter block to activate a transparency audio signal. It then declares an end to the conversation based on processing one or more of the microphone signals and the other sensor signals, and in response deactivates the transparency audio signal. The conversation detector monitors an idle duration in which an OVAD and a TVAD are both or simultaneously indicating no activity and declares the end to the conversation in response to the idle duration being longer than an idle threshold. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A headset apparatus for a subject has an ultrasound transducer mounted within an earpiece of the headset, wherein the ultrasound transducer is configured to nest against an ear of the subject. A headband is coupled to the earpiece and is configured to extend across a parietal region of the head and to provide flexure that exerts a force for urging the ultrasound transducer against a pinna surface of the subject's ear. An alignment projection extending from the earpiece is configured as an alignment feature for positioning the ultrasound transducer against the pinna surface when the alignment projection is seated within the opening of an ear canal of the subject. The transducer and alignment projection are in fixed positions relative to each other within the earpiece.

Abstract: An ear-worn hearing device includes a speaker disposed in a housing comprising a portion configured for wear over, on, or at least partially in a canal of a user's ear. Microphones are integrated with the housing, and a digital signal processing chain is coupled to and located between the microphones and the speaker. The digital signal processing chain includes active noise cancellation (ANC) circuitry configured to generate an anti-noise signal, and speaker-performance-enhancement circuitry coupled to the ANC circuitry and configured to generate a signal based on the anti-noise signal for the speaker. The digital signal processing chain is configured to communicate audio signals between the ANC circuitry and the speaker-performance-enhancement circuitry without changing a format of the audio signals.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a head-mountable information processing apparatus allowing a user to hear a desired sound even if ambient sound unnecessary for the user is present. An audio input interface includes sound microphones worn in the vicinity of the user's ear, collects the ambient sound that occurs outside the head-mountable information processing apparatus, and converts the ambient sound into an input audio signal. An audio output interface, including headphones, converts a generated output audio signal for output, and emits the audio output toward the user. Based on a volume level of the input audio signal and a volume level of the output audio signal, a controller determines whether or not a state in which the ambient sound is preventing the audio for output from being heard is occurring, and based on a determination result, the controller controls a sound emission operation of the audio output interface.

Abstract: Example techniques may involve headphone interaction. An implementation may include while headphones are disconnected from a control device, the control device receiving an indication of particular audio content being played back by a first zone of the media playback system. While the particular audio content is being played back by the one or more playback devices of the media playback system, detecting that headphones have been connected to the first control device. Headphones may be connectable to the control device via either (a) an analog headphone jack or (b) a point-to-point personal area network connection. In response to detecting that the headphones are connected to the control device: the control device (i) causing the one or more playback devices of the first zone to stop playback of the particular audio content; (ii) retrieving the particular audio content and (iii) resuming playback of the particular audio content via the connected headphones.
