    摘要: A self-cleaning collecting device for cleaning a dirty gas stream including a flow-through housing having a dirty gas inlet at the base of the housing and a clean gas outlet at the top of the housing interconnected by a gas treating passage adapted to direct a gas stream vertically through the housing. As the dirty gas stream enters the housing, it is circulated through a liquid bath where noxious vapors and larger particulates are entrained in a mist of liquid droplets which are in turn captured and removed from the gas stream as it moves through a separating panel positioned above the liquid bath. As the gas flows upwardly out of the panel, the captured liquid is circulated to the liquid bath to maintain a flow of liquid within the panel which acts to continuously wash the particulates from the panel. At the same time, the gas stream continues upwardly in the treating passage where it flows through an electrostatic precipitator which removes the smaller particulates from the gases prior to their being discharged from the housing through the gas outlet at the top of the housing.

The rapping arrangement includes a shaft extending horizontally across the interior of the precipitator between the electrode assemblies, and a crank mounted on the shaft between each of the opposing serially aligned electrodes of the electrode assemblies. An articulated linkage is pivotally secured to each of the cranks so as to swing a hammer mounted on the end of the linkage into an associated electrode on one of the electrode assemblies when the shaft is rotated in one direction and into an opposing electrode on the other electrode assembly when the shaft is rotated in the opposite direction.

The housing of the intercooler is divided by the core into a plenum chamber for receiving air and an air intake chamber delivering air to the engine cylinders by way of the outlet passages. The core is supported at its opposite ends and is also supported by a perforated intermediate support plate which includes a pair of deflector surfaces directing incoming air in opposite directions to aid in distributing air evenly through all portions of the intercooler core.

    摘要: An oil shale retorting method and apparatus moves a bed of oil bearing shale particles along a generally horizontal path and passes through the bed at spaced points a plurality of discrete nonoxidizing gas streams heated to different oil educting temperatures to vaporize and educe different weight fractions of oil from the kerogen in the shale into the gas streams. Preferably the heated gas streams are also passed through the moving shale bed upstream from distillation of the volatile oil constituents to preheat the shale particles and condense the educted oils which become suspended as stable mists and are mechanically separated from the gas streams. Heat energy is preferably removed from the spent shale particles of the moving bed by burning them with combustion air downstream from the retorting sites, and such heat energy is transferred to the nonoxidizing streams to raise them to different oil educting temperatures before they are passed through the moving bed to educe oil from the shale particles.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are disclosed for the recovery of sensible heat from a hot tar-free gas produced in a coal gasification process and in combined-cycle power generation. The recovered heat is utilized to generate a flow of superheated steam which may be used in the gasification plant. The apparatus includes a first boiler and a superheater fabricated from materials susceptible to damage from thermal shock when a flow of the tar-free gas having a temperature in excess of a predetermined safety temperature is introduced to the superheater when it is dry. The first boiler, filled with a flow of saturated water, initially receives the flow of gas. Within the first boiler, the gas indirectly heats the water converting it to a flow of saturated steam and reducing the gas temperature below the safety temperature. The reduced temperature gas is passed to the superheater and the saturated steam is passed to the superheater. The gas heats the saturated steam in the superheater to convert it to superheated steam and the temperature of the gas is further reduced. The gas flows to a second boiler for converting a flow of saturated water to saturated steam and further reducing the gas temperature. The saturated steam from the second boiler is passed to the superheater and the gas flows to an economizer for converting a flow of unsaturated water to saturated water for the boilers and reducing the temperature of the gas to a final temperature.
